QUOTE(lee82gx @ Oct 4 2012, 01:33 PM) seriously, colours is what sells the phone nowadays? Let me give you an example.Don't flame me though I don't have an Iphone but I own a lumia. There are 1 million iPhone 5 users in group A and 1 million Lumia 920 users in group B. The one million iPhone 5 users hold exactly the same iPhone 5 as everyone else, they can have any colors as long as it is black. The other one million Lumia 920 users, each hold a Lumia 920. There are 5 colors announced. Black, White, Metallic Gray, Red and Yellow (my favourite). Now, that means of the one million Lumia 920 users, each 200,000 users (on average) hold one colour. Back to you, which would make you feel more unique? Same black? Or same phone with more varieties? And to differentiate yourself further, there are close to 14 accent colors (plus minus, can't be exact, it depends on vendors) in WP8 for you to choose. You and I may hold a yellow Lumia 920 but my Accent is yellow, yours could be red. That's how different we are. Again, do you feel more unique now? So to answer your question, yes, color is indeed a USP. So, Nokia has dropped a bombshell. Lumia 920 Cyan is now available at AT&T, exclusively. They probably scrapped metalic gray.

QUOTE Wired: The tagline of the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 announcement was “Switch to Lumia.” Why somebody would actually make the switch from, say, an iPhone to a Windows Phone. Features? Pricing? Elop: I think you don’t start at all in these markets with a pricing proposition. Starting with “because it’s cheaper” is not a good approach. You have to lead with how it’s better or differentiated or is going to allow you to do certain things that you haven’t been able to do before. So I use the example a lot of low-light photography. Go to that rock concert or go to your kid’s band performance and try to take a great picture. I can tell you on your iPhone in your bag, there are hundreds of pictures that are a bit blurry or a bit crappy. That’s been a problem for all of us in the smartphone industry, but it’s a problem we’ve solved with the 920. Yes Mr Elop I agree, being cheaper by offering crappy products is not good. Instead, being cheaper while offering outstanding features is always the best. Go for volume, cement your place in the market first and then take it from there. I hope that's what you mean. QUOTE(rockpoper @ Oct 5 2012, 07:34 AM) Nokia is screwing up their phones slowly day by day bcos of their poor marketing How is that so? People are only complaining because they want to know the price here and now. But WP8 hasn't even launched yet. You can't get a single WP8 phone in the market, so how exactly are they screwing up? I see many people who wanted to get the new lumia are now losing interest on nokia HTC has only announced the price, but it's still not available. So is Samsung and anyone else. I'd agree with you if HTC's phones are already available for sale, but they are not. Such secrecy is still warranted. If you're comparing with an iPhone 5 (price and availability announced), then save it. WP8 itself isn't even launched yet, until Oct 28 that is. That's what they did with Lumia 610 and later a Lumia 510.I hope that's what you mean. Elop's Wire interview Because of Lumia 610 (or a variant of it), WP7's sales in China is greater than iOS.
