Horizontal IPS H-IPS 2007 Improves[quantify] contrast ratio by twisting electrode plane layout. Also introduces an optional Advanced True White polarizing film from NEC, to make white look more natural[quantify]. This is used in professional/photography LCDs.[citation needed] Enhanced IPS E-IPS 2009 Wider[quantify] aperture for light transmission, enabling the use of lower-power, cheaper backlights. Improves[quantify] diagonal viewing angle and further reduce response time to 5ms.[citation needed] Professional IPS P-IPS 2010 Offer 1.07 billion colours (30-bit colour depth).[citation needed] More possible orientations per sub-pixel (1024 as opposed to 256) and produces a better[quantify] true colour depth. Advanced High Performance IPS AH-IPS 2011 Improved colour accuracy, increased resolution and PPI, and greater light transmission for lower power consumption.[10] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD |

If that line stays in the same place all the time including during the BIOS POST screen then its likely a panel problem. How old is that monitor, and is it still under warranty? |

hi all, sorry if I post in wrong thread. windows 8 will be launch very soon, there is many new tablet, AIO desktop and ultrabook already introduce and target to launch together with windows 8. But I do not see any windows 8 certified LCD Monitor. Important criteria are capacitive multi touch screen & bezel-less or edge-2-edge display. current existing model available locally are only optical touch with regular bezel design like acer, dell or hp. capacitive touch do have from brand like Planar, TRu/TRU-Vu but not popular available in our local dealer. Anyone or any insider from famous brands like samsung, lg, dell, etc... please share if there is any leaked roadmap for next or next year touch screen LCD monitor if any. I looking for: 1. windows 8 certified 2. below 22" 3. full HD 4. USB hubs mhl, wireless display or other additional features are optional, nice to have, budget RM2000. |

QUOTE(lex @ Sep 1 2012, 06:19 PM) What type of "weird" problem? Describe in detail. Nowadays CRT monitors have little value (not worth fixing), may as well get a LCD/LED monitor. panel more than 4 years... lol...If that line stays in the same place all the time including during the BIOS POST screen then its likely a panel problem. QUOTE(firstknight @ Sep 2 2012, 04:53 PM) panel more than 4 years... lol... Brand, model and size? Try tapping on the top frame area of that line, and see if it changes color or more lines appear. You can also try pressing slightly (not too hard) the top area where the line starts from, and see if there are changes... |

QUOTE(firstknight @ Sep 2 2012, 09:37 PM) vx2025wm.... Whoah! That's monitor uses a PMVA panel (true 16.7 million colors) instead of the usual TN panel. Also its native resolution is actually 1680x1050 instead of the usual 1600x900 found on most 20" widescreen monitors nowadays. QUOTE(firstknight @ Sep 2 2012, 09:37 PM) it stays on.... You have a few choices, really. First, just continue to use the monitor while ignoring that line. Second, get a new monitor and put aside that monitor as spare or sell it off as scrap. I could also take a look closely and see if I could apply the tape+padding trick though the chances are quite low for it to work since tapping, pressure and warming up on the panel did not alter the line in any way. Anyway, the tape carrier thingy is pretty delicate and further influence could make it worse (e.g. another line appears). That's why for this type of problem, usually whole panel has to be replaced although its not recommended as the price of that replacement panel alone (usually anywhere from at least RM200 and higher) can buy a brand new monitor (ie. usually only worth for monitors sizes 23" and above). RMA the screen once during warranty period and they mentioned this is the problem for this LCD....You have a few choices, really. First, just continue to use the monitor while ignoring that line. I've used quite a number of monitors already, though mostly from Acer and BenQ ones, and a few Samsungs. My current one, BenQ FP222W has been running fine (already 5 years). Usually I tend to stick to known big/established brands, rather than going for less known ones like Envision, Proview, IIyama, Planar, VHO, etc. Hardware support is pretty important for LCD monitor. QUOTE(firstknight @ Sep 2 2012, 11:42 PM) The strangest thing was taht when I upgrade my card to 670.. now DVI can use again... wonder what is wrong?? No idea, but the symptoms described (in bold) are usually indicative of power supply problems (e.g having to switch off or disconnect before can switch on back again). QUOTE(firstknight @ Sep 2 2012, 11:42 PM) Badcaps what you mean? Short for "bad capacitors". In many power supplies, capacitors can determine the stability of the power being delivered. If capacitors go bad then will have random and intermittent problems. QUOTE(firstknight @ Sep 2 2012, 11:42 PM) AOC also known to be a good hardware producer.. so that one also no go? AOC is actually an OEM for many monitor brands, though nowadays they decided to also compete in the market under their own brandname. The others like Acer, BenQ and Samsung are also OEMs to brands like Dell, HP, IBM, etc. Generally in terms of spare parts and replacements, brands like Acer, BenQ, Samsung and Dell are plentiful and easier to find since they are more common...
