thanks! my beef isnt the price though, it's the size. I'd kill for a good 21.5' FHD IPS, last time I lug the u23 back home it gave me some serious headaches.
*
Yeah,I had a tough time carrying my U2311H back in the days too. Why don't you try the S2240L? The box is small and when packaged it's a good bit lighter than the 23 inchers. Image quality wise the one I have at home is superb with blacks that are deep [for an IPS] and quite accurate out of the box [with the custom color preset]. It doesn't have an anti glare coating though so if your room is bright you'll see reflections. That said it is still better than a 21.5" iMac from 2012. smile.gif

If I am willing to spend RM500~RM600 for a monitor. How good the monitor can go ? Is it possible to get a monitor with at least 23" inches at this price ? Which brand has the better graphic ?

Basically use it for watching movie purpose and I prefer large scree. Any recommendation ?

Hello guys!
I need some opinion for monitors.
I'm currently looking at Dell Ultra sharp series monitors.
Let us look at u2312hm and u2412m.
Which of them are better for gaming and photo editing?
What's their difference other than the size? (as from what I see they looks the same)
I am a total noob in monitors so i need some help here.
*
The U2412M has a different aspect ratio thus more vertical pixels. To some this is very important. IIRC performance wise they are about the same.

Dell U2312HM - RM600~ ,23" IPS display with anti glare coating, has a stand that can swivel and tilt.
Dell S2340L - RM560~ ,23" glossy IPS display [makes text a bit sharper,and colors a bit punchier],slim bezels,ok stand
Viewsonic VX2370S - RM550,23" IPS with anti glare coating, decent stand
Acer V246HYL - RM525 [Jayacom],24" IPS with anti glare coating.

Generally speaking the image quality between these monitors should be about the same, unless you get a unit with excessive backlight bleed or dead/stuck pixels etc etc. The glossy models should have punchier colors but be prepared for glare. Gaming wise, I can't really say. Personally I don't think they would be noticeably slower or less responsive compared to a TN panel monitor.

I tried my friend's unit before, it's a decent monitor. The stand, buttons and OSD is better than my LG IPS237L. Image quality wise,it's roughly similar so it's pretty damn good for RM500.
*
I have a question about this monitor is that every time I on my PC I need to press on/off button for this monitor.
Because some of monitor when you press on button one time without press off button, every time you on PC the monitor well on it.
For example Asus vw190de.

Finally bought the Asus VX239H.. Overall nt bad, gud choice for matte screen.. but I have to admit Dell's 27 inch was tempting.. Image looks nice but the reflection was the turn off point..
*
Yea..the reflective part is a bit turn off especially when u r gonna look at the screen for a long time sweat.gif

U2412M should be the best among all in that price range plus the warranty from Dell. The only disadvantage is that it lacks HDMI port laugh.gif

I'm in the market for an LCD display about 1k.... what would be the absolute best one under this range? It's for gaming, I'm looking for 27 inch but if 23 inches are better image quality that I go for 23 inch.

I used to have a samsung 206BW (which I pretty like btw), that will be replaced with this monitor.

Required specs:

2ms response time
HDMI input
VGA input

ARB unit basically no warranty (except personal warranty from the seller like 7 days) but they are sold for a very much cheaper price (Almost half of the original price) I am not sure how to check whether an unit is an ARB anot though.

hey guys, I hooked up my desktop to my 40 inch LED TV as I don't have resources to buy a monitor. Apart from the response time, is it ok to play using LCD TV? My rig is mostly only for gaming. let me know your thoughts.. thanks!

tv standard use reduced color gradient 16-235, not suitable for serious art work.
but game no issue

Try Dell Ultrasharp 2412M comes with HDMI, DVI, Displayport, 8ms responce time due to IPS panel, (TN panel is fast but IPS have better color and viewing angle worth the trade off), 16:10 aspect ratio with 1920x1200 pixel , I brought it at LYP for RM850 icon_rolleyes.gif, if you on a desk, I wouldn't recommend 27 inch monitor with 1920x1080 due to low DPI(dot per inch)

Depend on viewing distance, on a desk I wouldn't recommend it(low DPI), on a couch then is perfectly ok.

Appreciate your inputs guys! Yeah, actually I view it from my bed so I guess there is enough distance to maximize usage and performance. Although sometimes, it causes my eyes to get teary I guess due to the bright resolution but its only a minor concern! thank you everyone! smile.gif
