Hi djlah,

I am actually looking for a 27in monitor and was zooming into Dell 27 Ultrasharp i think is 2713HM...

any comments from you why you choose S2740L ? I'd like to hear if you already did some background study and analysis between the models..

thank you in advance..

2011: Dell U2412M
2012: Dell U2413 (AH-IPS)
2013: Dell U2414H (USB 3.0)
now I'm considering change my S2740L to 1 or 2 Dell U241x (dunno which gen better?)

of course U2713HM better. I got S2740L because ultrasharp is out of my budget that time doh.gif
if you have more budget, U2713H even better.

The Dell U2713HM is very nice, I have two on my desk in the office and love them.

At home though I decided to get 3 x Dell U2312HM instead for my gaming PC. The 27" is nice as a standalone but too wide with triple head gaming, instead of tilting your head you need to turn your head biggrin.gif

Finally after 8 years my monitor decided to give me problem.. Time to change a new one..

I have short listed few models which are,
Dell S2340L
Dell S2440L
Dell U2312HM
Asus VX239H

Now im in midst of deciding if I should go for the Gloss or Matte...

Gloss looks nice and the image seems to be crispier and contracts seems to be better but I hate the reflection n im too used to the matte surface...

Any1 can share your experience with Gloss and Matte surface?

Im nt into gaming, mostly movies n surfing.. Maybe PS4... so any advice?

seeing as manufacturing processes are impoving for mass production, maybe prices for higher end ips models like AH-IPS will be cheaper sometime around 2014-2016 maybe ?

I much prefer matte, which is why I'm using the Dell U2312HM. Looked at a few other models but decided on the Dell. I also have an iMac with a very glossy screen, I still prefer the matte especially if you're watching movies. The glare from the lights is damn distracting.

U r right, glossy would be annoying watching movies especially when the screen is dark/to bright as we can clearly see our face shakehead.gif

Now time to decide on the budget, 23/24/27.. Im using MSI GTX660, would it be good pair wif a 27' inch? But I love the frame-less model,so might be going with Asus...

Ha ha. Frameless is always good. The Dell U2713 is very nice if you want a matte model though, haven't seen an Asus that was frameless though.

Go to Low Yat plaza, check out the models there. I looked at a few then decided on the Dell, one major reason was that the Dell stand is much sturdier than anything else I wanted.

I'm using S2740L. for me, minimum size now must be at least 24", 27" just little bit slightly extra feeling for me nod.gif

Because when you said business, i thought you wanted something affordable but still enjoyable.

Personally i'm happy with 24''

I don't feel the need to pay for anything higher than that.

Ive used u23 before and i loved the usb ports + swivel.

Is there any other alternatives that i can consider? Usage is photo editing but not too pro that i require overkill stuffs. Budget would be around 600.

I really loved the u23 but if theres any ips option with accurate colors and is smaller in size, id love to check it out
