I'm in the market for an LCD display about 1k.... what would be the absolute best one under this range? It's for gaming, I'm looking for 27 inch but if 23 inches are better image quality that I go for 23 inch.

I used to have a samsung 206BW (which I pretty like btw), that will be replaced with this monitor.

Required specs:

2ms response time
HDMI input
VGA input

Try Dell Ultrasharp 2412M comes with HDMI, DVI, Displayport, 8ms responce time due to IPS panel, (TN panel is fast but IPS have better color and viewing angle worth the trade off), 16:10 aspect ratio with 1920x1200 pixel , I brought it at LYP for RM850 icon_rolleyes.gif, if you on a desk, I wouldn't recommend 27 inch monitor with 1920x1080 due to low DPI(dot per inch)

hey guys, I hooked up my desktop to my 40 inch LED TV as I don't have resources to buy a monitor. Apart from the response time, is it ok to play using LCD TV? My rig is mostly only for gaming. let me know your thoughts.. thanks!

Depend on viewing distance, on a desk I wouldn't recommend it(low DPI), on a couch then is perfectly ok.

hello sifus, would like to enquire about resolution for monitor. currently most 23 & 24 cater for 1080p resolution. wanna noe if there are monitors athat can project 1440?

or only applies for 27 inch monitor and above?

and also for LED TV that have FULL HD are they able to project 1440 resolution?

thanks in advance

only apply on 27 inch, as for LED TVs those 4K TV can project it.

Thanks for the advice, but I already ended up going to LYP and fell in love with the samsung 27 incher. It's just sooo huuugee that I didn't think much and got it.  drool.gif

It's true that it's got a lower DPI, I can totally see your point and it's noticeable when you look for the pixels.

But each time I think about the lower pixels I just keep noticing how biiiiig the monitor is and didn't mind much... more immersive experience since the monitor fills your view THAT much more when playing FPS and driving games. Starcraft 2 minimaps are much easier to see now and it's a very big plus point for me.

I can view TWO full page PDFs for work purposes to boot.

All in all, no buyer's remorse. Very happy with my purchase.  It's f***ing huge! Monitor screens don't get any bigger than this for less than 1k!  rclxms.gif

Yeah, I actually fell in love with the 27 inch size itself, Dell does offer 27 inch with 2560x1440 pixel but it is expensive. those 1920x1080 one just turn me off thank to low DPI, eventually I settle the 24 inch because of 16:10(16:10>16:9 notworthy.gif ) aspect ratio.
