Sorry I haven't gone through the thread yet.

I realise there are many types of i5 processors. Which will suite me more?

What about the other components like graphic cards and such? The shop guy ask me to use the onboard GC instead.

any i5 would suit u, just that each i5 is clocked at different speed, lowest at 3.1ghz highest at 3.4ghz and the non K and K series chip(unlocked multiplier)

I see, I thought there are dual core and quad core i5. Actually, i7 is suited towards which types of users?

PSU meaning power supply? He says it comes together with the standard casing so I'm guessing its the very generic type.

I went to a shop in digital mall Section 14.

I checked the price list:
Intel Core i3-3220 RM389 RM545
MSI H61M-P31 RM149
Kingston Value RAM 4GB RM64 RM70
Sapphire HD7850 1GB RM619 RM799 only got 2GB
FSP Hexa 500W PSU RM149
Lite-On 22x DVDRW RM59
Gigabyte GZ-X Casing RM59

May I know which shop your referring to?

there was a dual core i5 but its the lowest 2nd gen Sandy Bridge which no one will recommend here lolz so don't bother

that shou is trying to con you, the i3 is too expensive, value RAMs nowadays are RM60 and the HD7850 price has dropped to about RM600

better to get your rig from LYN GS's reputable sellers like Lingloong, Cyntrixtech and Zhen_wei or scout around LYP before you commit

My friend was looking for a cheap casing, and I recall reading this cheap AVF casing being recommended here and there.. but I really have no idea how it looks like. Had a look at the Gigabyte GZ series, not bad for the price, not too cap ayam look. Thanks. biggrin.gif

indeed, i3 is good enough for gaming, i5 is more optimum and balanced. u should focus more on the graphic card then the processor for gaming. perhaps can consider

intel core i3 2100 rm334
msi h61m-p31 b3 rm149
kingston 1333 4gb x2 rm112
sapphire hd 7850 2gb rm695
wd blue 500gb rm184
liteon dvd-rw rm59
fsp hexa 500w rm149
aerocool strike x one advance rm139

total rm1821 prices from viewnet, should get under rm1800 after discount
