QUOTE(hfi @ Sep 2 2012, 01:52 PM)
Did we ? Jol said we never made a bid prior to the one we made that got rejected. I think it was Sturridge who we really wanted. But that deal depended on Chelsea signing Schurrle from Leverkusen. So we waited and waited until it was clear Chelsea would not be signing the player, consequently ruling out the possibility of signing Sturridge. Only then we went for Dempsey. This is all speculation by the way, we can never be sure until the club make a statement which they won't.

BR did say that they made an enquiry long ago and Fulham said no bid came in so its obvious we don't think the asking price is worth it. Our lack of interest till the end of the window is evident of our lack of interest and that he is not our main target. I believe our main target is Sturridge but since Chelsea couldn't get someone in too, the deal felled through.

For all the people pointing that we were 1-2m away from signing Dempsey, some even quoted a precise 1m. Seriously? You work for the club? You were directly involved in the deal? Don't judge if you don't know the truth. It could have been more or as ESPN quoted we didn't even make a bid! Or Fulham waited till the last minute when Spurs came in then they chose to close all negotiations with us due to grudge because they knew Dempsey was desperate to get out and Spurs is his final option.

Bid or no bid, we were clearly interested in the player enough to make it public.

A lot of things posted are down to speculation, but what we know for sure is this:
1) We loaned out Carroll knowing that there will be a replacement.
2) BR clearly said that he's hoping we bring in 1 or 2 players in, right before transfer deadline.

It doesn't matter who our targets were. We were looking for strikers and not only we didn't get any, we lost one. No matter how you put it, it's a lose-lose situation for us.

Now we're linked with the return of Michael Owen. The joke's on us.

we never had any interest in sturridge untill the last day.

we made bids for Dempsey but its not what Fulham wanted. Villa had a 7m deal agreed but Dempsey rejected it because he wanted to go to LFC.

Spurs only shown interest in the latter stage, about 3-5 hours before the window closed.

look, BR even said it himself "No doubt we need to add goals to the team. Getting recognised goalscorers to come in is the number one objective." He was promised one thing when we loaned out Carroll but now didn't get it.

Alright. Alright. Let the traitor comes home. Not that we have a choice anyway. We'll burn his shirt after we sign a new striker. Hehe.

What a sad turn of events with not additional striker to bolster our depleted strikeforce. Haven't we heard this same excuses all over again for years.

On a good day, this team will beat Arsenal 2-0 with ease with 63% possession and 20 missed opportunities. biggrin.gif

Michael Owen huh... I hate the guy but I do think he can provide sufficient cover for now until January. However his wages is probably expensive as well. Another option would be Klasnic... Anyway today we still have a good chance to beat Arsenal, our first team is quite good. Sahin I think surely will start cause Lucas is injured. Let's hope we win to lift the gloom of the last few days.

If we play well like we did last year apart from the finishing, we can come out on top.

They beat us last year with 2 assisst from Song, finished by RVP. both players have now moved to scumster utd and Barca.

our striker force is just too blunt.. cant even killed the hearts at home..future not so bright with only left suarez n borini to be main scorer with a such a poor finishing technique... the only hope is tat sahin n oussama guy can help us helping us getting the goal although it's a doubt

No creativity on the bench. If the first XI failed to produce, it's GG. (There is one if Downing is considered a creative player. biggrin.gif)
