well, the way i would have done it - sign dempsey first and if we did get sturridge, we will have a healthy 4 strikers. not bad. our mistake was to rely on chelsea. we should take matters into our own hands

Sure it's nice to have stacks of strikers but perhaps the reality is that we could only afford one striker.

to people who said FSG funded our transfer, hell no. Even if they were, its not 100m! we got money from player sales, last year it was torres, babel, meireles. This year, its not theirs probably from sponsors - warrior, standard chartered etc. wake up people, they're typical american.

Their policy is make young players overnight superstars then sell. Build, profit, rebuild.

You don't expect someone, who is not a fans of football, doesn't know much bout football, somemore not a fans of lfc, doesn't have oil background to fork out his own money for the club, do you? Learn to be grateful people. We were on the fringe of administration last year, which means bankrupt. Take it as an investment from FSG. I duno how rich they are as a person to be able to fork out 20M for a player. But chances that they would rather buy a stewart downing or to use that money for other investment is pretty low.

wasn't it Tom Werner who said that we have enough resource to compete with any team in the transfer market. wasn't it him who said we dont need to sell players for fund?
and we cant even pay another 2m for Dempsey??
how about the stadium issue?been quiet for a while now. They kept saying that they need to consider everything before making any decisions. How long will that take? Its almost 2 years now isn't it?

We can beat Arsenal.
Have Faith.
Borini must prove his worth tonite, so is Sahin.
Allen just do your usual trade so is Shelvey.
Sterling, keep on moving, you are damn good.
Downing is begining to look good at Leftback and as Overlapping Leftback.
Gerrard most do some good long shots again.
Pepe must be more careful.
BR pls play Coates, Carra is too slow.

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Sep 2 2012, 01:42 PM) Didn't we try to sign him some weeks ago? FSG got ahead of themselves and announced the signing before it happen, didn't they? Secondly, if we weren't seriously looking for strikers, then why did we send Carroll out on loan? Bear in mind that other than Dempsey and Sturridge, we weren't link with anybody on the last day. So if they aren't our primary targets, who was supposed to take Carroll's place? My point is, somebody behind the doors clearly f***ed this up badly and once again we're at risk of facing another PR turmoil. BR did say that they made an enquiry long ago and Fulham said no bid came in so its obvious we don't think the asking price is worth it. Our lack of interest till the end of the window is evident of our lack of interest and that he is not our main target. I believe our main target is Sturridge but since Chelsea couldn't get someone in too, the deal felled through. For all the people pointing that we were 1-2m away from signing Dempsey, some even quoted a precise 1m. Seriously? You work for the club? You were directly involved in the deal? Don't judge if you don't know the truth. It could have been more or as ESPN quoted we didn't even make a bid! Or Fulham waited till the last minute when Spurs came in then they chose to close all negotiations with us due to grudge because they knew Dempsey was desperate to get out and Spurs is his final option.
