QUOTE(ronnie @ Nov 7 2012, 04:16 PM) @duckaton, I understand your feelingI always believe in turning on when it's necessary. Machines are built by Human. Human needs rest, so do Machines. There's always MTBF for all IT equipments.... so the longer you run it, the quicker it dies. Nobody likes it if being told what they do is idiotic and got no purpose. Like I said, no harm done. Who am I to deny you the pleasure of thinking you are saving electricity and prolonging the lifespan of the equipments by using auto-timer. Machines dies faster the longer you run it, this I agree for washing machines. Modem/router has no moving parts, they die faster due to thermal stress, meaning fluctuation of temperatures. By the way, MTBF (Mean time between failures) means the average time taken to replace faulty equipments. Not average lifespan. bruised your ego? sorry. |

MTBF is not the average time taken to replace faulty equipments.Nobody likes it if being told what they do is idiotic and got no purpose. Like I said, no harm done. Who am I to deny you the pleasure of thinking you are saving electricity and prolonging the lifespan of the equipments by using auto-timer. By the way, MTBF (Mean time between failures) means the average time taken to replace faulty equipments. Not average lifespan. bruised your ego? sorry. MTBF is time between failures (assuming repairs/replacements are done). i.e., System A runs 3 years before failing -> repair -> runs 2 years before failing -> repair -> runs 1 year before failing MTBF (average time between failures) = (3+2+1)/3 = 6/3 = 2 years But I agree with you where equipment without moving parts do not die faster from running them longer. Temperature spikes are a more likely cause of failures since small parts being used nowadays can be quite temperature sensitive. |

Is anyone having this problem? My connection to Facebook is very very slow. Other websites and YouTube streaming is normal, except Facebook.
I don't know whether it's just me, or if it's Maxis FTTH or Facebook. |

Hey guys ,
Yesterday I installed dd-wrt firmware in my old router (linksys WRT54G2 v1) and ready to boost my home Internet connection . I have some success with using Repeater Bridge( LAN port) but no luck with Repeater (which is wifi expander ) . I followed this http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wlan_Repeater to set up but still end up with nothing . Is Maxis router doesn't support dd-wrt WLAN repeater ? I'm using maxis fibre 10mbps plan , Please help me solve this problem if you have experienced in dd-wrt. Thank you . |

hi folks
any maxis fiber user from damansara utama here? how's the service? frequent interruptions/probs? im still undecided to either go with unifi 5M or maxis 10M, but im worried about installation/tech support from maxis as theyre not as big as TM. Also, since maxis dont go well w/ youtube(sometime i see ppl post about buffering issues), does it behaves the same with niconicodouga/ustream/justintv ? thanks |
