I am a heavy downloader. I use internet everyday and download big sized files every day. From what I have read so far, the high ping shouldn't be affecting the download performance right?
*
Don't worry. Gaming only an issue. If you play games like HoN, or SASEA, no lag (to me.) since local servers I guess.
I don't know about overseas server located games, but based on majority the ping is bad.

Downloading not really a problem. Forever stable. Same goes to uploading. If you download torrents with many seeds then should have a stable 1.0MB+ download speed.

Is anyone having this problem? My connection to Facebook is very very slow. Other websites and YouTube streaming is normal, except Facebook.
I don't know whether it's just me, or if it's Maxis FTTH or Facebook.

I requested a switch from Private IP to Public IP.
I did so because I need to host a web server from my PC. Also for some gaming reasons (eg. Minecraft servers, etc)
But the thing is, are there any cons to public IP?
Everything (speed, P2P) will be fine like before right?
The only difference I get from switching is the ability to forward ports, right?

Just configured public IP. The person didn't tell me how long will take effect, but right after they guided me on changing the account thing, I reset my router all, then tried port forward and open port 80, and it works, and my IP also change to 121.121.xxx.xx
Tried torrenting but max speed 1MB xD Tomorrow try. I really would have a jump of joy if I got 2MB or 2.5MB/s like u said !:P

Just now download ufc torrent 2.1mbs  flex.gif

How did you get such high speed? I'm finally on Public IP but still the same as before, torrent always at 1.0MB/s or 1.1MB/s.
Never gotten anything higher than that. Did the sudden increase in speed occur right after you got your public IP?

haha see the capitalized "MB"
1xxkbps = 1Mb/mb
1xxxkbps = 1MB tongue.gif
oh. okay, so the highest speed we've seen with public IP is 2MB/s
which is 20Mbps by azizul

did u try to set ur upload speed to the lowest speed?
*
I'm on Public IP but my speed 1.1MB max.. im gonna try setting upload to just 1kbps (since u said lowest, i made it 1 since if 0 = unlimited) and im using UTorrent , hope my download speed like urs! will be dam glad.

mind teaching me ur ways for doing it on uTorrent? or do you just set ur upload speed to the lowest and thats it?

if you dont mind, can u upload a screenshot of ur bandwidth settings in uTorrent? including the "Number of Connections" area?
and another question, must i port forward to anything? i only have port 80 open for my web server.

Aiyo... so much bandwidth must share lar... why so greedy.

Just now trying to restart the router but who knows it stucked there. I thought router so fast condemn. Google the manual and did the hard reset and enter the setting again. Now working again.

if u mean for the guys who set their upload to lowest then.. if lets say i set mine to 1 and then i got the fast download speed of public IP like 2MB/s then id download it super fast then seed like no tomorrow tongue.gif

I don't know if I'm right, but speed through fibre is not dictated by how much your upload was. I always set mine to 800kB/s and I still get 1.1MB/s. Tried lowering it to 500kB/s also same. Fibre is so fast that we are capped by our account cap limit and not upload speed.

Public IP only designate an IP for you instead of sharing one with everyone else. Even when I was using private IP, I achieve 1.1MB/s as well with Xunlei
*
This is true. I rarely even reach 1.2MB/s. We are probably capable of reaching sky high speeds, but that would all depend on our account. I have no idea how Azizul managed to get crazy speeds of 2MB/s++ even if his account is 10Mbps. He said that occurred when he switched to Public IP. I'm on Public IP and all seems the same, torrenting/downloading speed is only 1MB/s. Torrenting is always 1.0MB/s or 1.1MB/s.

The only possible way to get insane speeds/uncap your speed limit is to actually hack into Maxis's servers and change your account's configuration, which probably will get you into some mad trouble tongue.gif
So hopefully Azizul can provide us with some information on how he managed to get that fantastic speed..

And as for uploading speeds, when torrenting, I just set it to unlimited. Usually my upload speed can be bad, but at regular times, download+upload is always at maximum (1.0-1.1MB/s)

all this while i using the wrong term.... haiz... rclxub.gif

Yes, 10mb = we should get 10Mb per second. but, 10Mb = 1MB per second. See the capitalized "B"?
Mb = megabits
MB = megabytes

so 1.1MB/s = 10Mb per second , full speed smile.gif
Some users that achieve 2MB/s+ are getting 20Mb speed tongue.gif

Hmm, Unifi offer free webhosting and domain name for their customers. Not very known, but is there any chance Maxis FTTH offers this too?
Interested a bit in the webhosting but very interested in the free domain (.com/info/.org/.net, you pick 1).
