@ milesandmore - a fren here in SIN was watchin 'Music Bank' yesterday n mentioned quality was very bad, VCD quality. Seems like a problem with KBS themselves.

let's pressure astro kaw kaw to bring KBS World HD...

Have the cable TV providers in Singapore switched to KBS World HD ? Because for the Astro one, it has the HD logo too but clearly not a HD channel. For most other shows aired on KBS World "HD" on Astro, the picture quality is ok. It's definitely not HD but at least it is viewable like most other SD channels but the picture is super terrible for Music Bank. Like you said, it's very VCD quality or even worse! Music Bank HD is supposed to look very good on HD. Watched it briefly last time when i was in Seoul

The above pixs I took were from Singtel mio TV.......they just replace the SD feed with the new one and ran a scroll saying something like "You're now enjoying KBS World in High Definition offered to you at no additional cost."

Starhub is not offering the channel in HD....The channel is still SD 4:3 cut-out.

I have both mio TV and Starhub.

That's the problem with Assteruk. You need to pay extra RM10 for HD channels. Even TM offers HD channels at no extra cost. Heck, if you don't pay Assteruk they won't even let you use the HDMI output for SD. TM has no such stupidity.

Assteruk's move can even come across as actively discouraging people from adopting HD...

Oh yes, they removed it but the feed is still HD.
Maybe Astro, Starhub etc. Complained about the number of requests for the HD feed which both Astro n Starhub refuses to carry.

Already announced in Astro website... Disney XD (SD) Channel 617 and Disney XD HD Channel 637 for Family Pack which means ALL Astro subscribers can watch Disney XD, starting from 15 September 2012.

* Ch 637 HD only for Superpack and HD Service subscribers.

This means 1 additional HD Channel is already confirmed 100% coming in September 2012.

Its actually RM 20 per month for HD Service. For Superpacks subscribers, already included and bundled with HD Service. I did not subscribe to any Superpack. I know because I am already paying additional RM 20 per mth for the HD Service.

It was just a minor typo mistake by RAMchyLD who quoted the wrong amount because he had already cancelled his Astro account a long time ago because of his dissatisfaction with As*teruk. I can understand RAMchyLD hatred for As*teruk because of an incident which happened to him (you can refer to his previous post some time ago). Yes... I will also react the same way IF this also happened to me.

Yesterday I did phone to As*teruk to complain about the HD Logo for the KBS World channel 391 which I told the As*teruk support person that the HD logo is misleading and causing a lot of confusion. I even enquired why As*teruk did NOT launch the actual KBS World HD channel. The support person told me that the channel is still in SD and at the present time said that he is not aware of any plans to launch this channel in HD. He also said that he will report this matter to the proper department about my complaint and apologised to me for the HD Logo error.

Well... I suspect that so many people have phone to As*teruk to complain about the HD logo for the KBS World ch391 and request for actual HD channel.. until... hehe... that As*teruk quickly changed the logo back to non HD !! Damn... was hoping for actual HD channel for KBS World.

Yes... the feed to As*teruk is still in HD but it has been downscaled to SD 4:3. Nothing new here. Example... this has already happened for BBC Ch512 where the feed is actually HD 16:9... and cut slightly on the left and right screen area by As*teruk which is why we can see a small top/bottom black bar and sometimes some text become missing on the left because of the some left area being cut off.

Mmm... I don't know but I suspect that As*teruk took the 16:9 widescreen KBS World HD feed and maybe cut of some left/right area to change it to 4:3, then downsampled it to SD.

you're right, typo. Iirc in 2010 it was RM10. But it has been so long and I could've been mistaken anyway. Still. It stands that it looks like assteruk is discouraging HD take up by purposely forcing those who want HD to pay more...

You can check any backward or future schedule by clicking from this link below...

From there, you need to change the Time Zone to UTC+8 to get the correct actual Malaysian time.

Then click on "Sun" for 02-09-2012 which is for "last week". To change to other dates, click on date input on the right of the Time Zone area. A month calender will pop out for you to select or change to other dates for other months. You can also choose from any date to any date schedule you like and then download it as Microsoft Excel or normal text document.

I have checked and found that the KBS World schedule there is the same for Astro KBS World.

Example... the schedule there showed the program "Chilwu, the Mighty" at 23:20 (04-09-12)... and checked from the Astro box is at 23:22 (04-09-12) which is 2 minute delay for Astro. Most programs are a few minutes delay for As*teruk... I suspect due to "censorship" monitoring !!

Why As*teruk now only have current and later date schedule... only As*teruk knows and I don't think they will tell you !!! As*teruk should have the same style of schedule as shown at KBS World website which I think is useful and convenient. Too bad that As*teruk did not do it in the similar way !

For KBS still can find the schedule , but if for others , I guess no luck.
Iirc , last time Astro even print a booklet and send to every subscribe , few years ago it stop , then they suggest you can view the schedule online for previous weeks and now , not even yesterday schedule was shown.
