QUOTE(chuppachop @ Sep 1 2012, 09:49 PM) Oic. Hmmm....Starhub usually just accepts incoming feed with no conversion...looks like Astro may have down converted for those viewers with 4:3 TVs. Mediacorp started transmitting in 16:9, like news programs are all now shot in 16:9. So for viewers with CRT TV, they will see elongated images....... Attaching some pixs. HIST SD 16:9 CNA Singapore feed Unrelated pix. [V] India logo transforming to the new "prata" logo. It seems the Chinese subtitle on (SIN) History Asia is better looking than Astro one.

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Aug 31 2012, 11:57 PM) Update:
History Asia (4:3 zoom)
new History Asia HD (simulcast with SD one, BM & Chinese subs available.) No more relays from History UK one. Actually, this is not a good news at all. Do you know why the History HD suddenly has subtitle while the others don't? This is because the channel is not HD. Its just an upscale from the sd feed, since it is now broadcast in 16:9 view. There are alot of pixelation. This also explain why the sd and the hd are broadcast simultanously. WTF Astro. Trying to cheat us again. This post has been edited by m_imrun: Sep 2 2012, 04:48 AM

But, as the time goes, hopefully it'll be improved. This post has been edited by Qash-M: Sep 2 2012, 11:31 AM

Trying to cheat us again. FYI, astro is the provider of the feed for History, CI and BIO... Technically, astro was able to crop the 16:9 feed to 4:3 BUT most of History's tv shows are NOT 4:3 title safe, they have no choice but to letterbox it instead. Notice the History logo was within 4:3 title safe?

Just found out some limited info from my sources.....AETN channels are now being playout from Encompass Media Asia [in Singapore]. Measat has handed over the job to them. Here is another confirmation.....seems like measat only does signal uplinking, no longer playback. http://www.encompass-m.com/2012/08/30/enco...apore-facility/

The next on n some promo spots are in HD though. Suspect the old programs are upconverted while they start building up true HD programs for newer programs. Similar to how FX Asia first started.
Have to see if tonight's program "special forces : Malaysia GGK" or newer programs are in true HD.

That's the thing. There is no mention of a new KBS World HD channel on Astro website. The only confirmed one is the new Disney HD channel. The current KBS World SD has terrible picture quality! Far worse than other SD channels

Trying to cheat us again. Also we've essentially gone from having two History channels with different programmes to just one channel, i.e. less viewing choice FFS Astro.
