F8uck hell.

Was driving 90km/h on the left and middle lane all the way to and from KLIA. And at this particular stretch that went downhill, yes, on a wide ass 3 lane stretch, I got flashed.

It was somewhere after Nilai before Kajang exit towards KL.
Can't remember exactly where because I lost my head.
So bloody furious. My car hardly reaches 100kph and I always drive at 90kph to keep the car cool and steady and now I got a fine!

I checked my speed and it was just a bit over 90kph which is understandable because it was going downhill.

I really don't understand the reason for them to impose such a slow speed limit. The only outcome of this implementation is causing people to brake and brake and create a jam.

*Funny thing is that there were 2 other cars who overtook me earlier on the fast lane, they were not flashed. I was in the middle lane with a trailer next to me on the left lane at the time of the flashing.
*
I was flashed many times there. But it wasn't me speeding, it was cars in the other lanes. Do not worry if you speed is <100kph there. I was doing ~92 - 95 kph and I didn't get any summon. Already a few weeks, or even 1 month.

Don't worry. If you didn't break the speed limit you won't get summons.

AES billing not implemented yet? You sure?

Already 2 cases came out on newspaper, one at Johor another one at Penang, where the Johor case the pic show the same car registration number, but the color of the car is different with the owner's car.  The Penang case is even worst, the pic show a Toyota Camry, but the owner that rcv the summon drive a Harrier with registration number different by "1" number.

Are you sure its AES and not the PDRM camera? Can you provide the link?

As for, am I suer, I'm not surelah, bang, thats the reason I placed a question mark tongue.gif

anyways, I based on what I read too, where PR state says, no implementation yet, and if the summon were out, imagine each camera is said to catch something like 4000 summon a day, with 14 cameras, sure there we would have heard a public cry here, dont you think so?

its not necessarily it flashes all the time, but the picture would have been taken, anyways.

But as we understand for now, AES billing (summon) is not implemented yet. Do check if you get a summon within 5 days, else you can forget about it, hopefully??

Thanks man!
It gave me a slight relief although I have to face another 3 days on uncertainty.

My biggest grouse with AES or any speed trap for that matter is, if you really want to handle the road deaths issue, do it at sharp bends or trunk roads.
Not on a frickin wide 3 lane stretch on a highway!!

In my case, I did break the speed limit.
It was 90kph and I was doing just over that. Just.
It was over because it was on a downhill.

And the cars that overtook me were around 100m in front of me.
I didn't see them getting flashed and I didn't see them breaking to suggest that they knew when to slow down.
The only car close to me was the trailer on my left whom I was overtaking.

I really don't get the point of implementing a 80kph on a highway stretch, 3 god damn lanes, clear straight road, a bit downhill slope.
Really hard to keep the car at 90kph.

If they want people to drive that slow, better not use the highway then.
Let the cows use the highway.

I'm all for road safety but this is not the correct way.

BTW, me gal lah! blush.gif

Yeah, we all do share the same POV. Most road speed limit doesnt make sense at (not talking about tollways - 110kmh) and to some extend alot of these cameras are placed at trickly locations like down hill; low speed road (cyberjaya is one, me and my girls, even tried again today to drive at 50kmh, no way jose, even without pressing the accelerator the car is running mroe than 65kmh on a downslope! doh.gif do JPJ aspect us to drive while breaking!) and on a autocar most of the time driving at 50kmh means you are driving on 3rd gear, habih minyaklah cam tu! doh.gif

On the highway you have 10kph buffer, i.e on 90 kph speed limit, you can go 99 before it snaps you. Today I just went through the area, at 90 - 92 kph. It didn't snap me. But it did snap a motorcycle speeding and overtaking ppl. It was raining and the motorcycle was speeding.

Maybe that's how they want to make our road safer, they don't want people to waste time to react and press the brake. They want people to drive with the brake pressed all the time. This way you can save time if anything happens since you are already braking.

Oh sorry gal.

I am not one to criticize the gov'ts every move and I do agree with the enforcements on the road safety matter but do it where it really matters and not make it look like a cash cow. Finding the easiest way to collect summonses.

Instead of implementing all the 80kph speed limits on a highway, why not
- educate the drivers to not hog the middle lane especially when driving way below the speed limit and the left lane is empty.
- use signals
- not drive too slowly. implement a sort of minimum speed limit. Yeah, extremely slow cars are a danger too.

It's not always speed kills. There are many other factors like slow drivers in the middle lane.

I used to think that that was the case but the other day when I was snapped, I doing was <95kph so that theory is flawed.

Its not thoery, its a fact. All speed cams have a 10kmph buffer. Its due to the accuracy of the speed cams themselves and human error. Its even confirmed by the minister. So if you were flashed in a 90kmph zone while travelling at <95kmph then its 1 of 2 things:

1) You were not the one being flashed at
2) Your speedometer isnt accurate

I think No 1 is more likely. Either way, if u get a summons for travelling at <95kmph at a 90kmph zone, you would surely win a case in court. My guess is that you wont be getting any summons for this. Ive had friends who were flashed by the AES at Slim River while doing 100kmph and till now (>1 mth) no summons.

this is really a fail project. government spend RM800Million just for this. i believe the real amount is more than this. can u imagine amount near RM1 billion can use for other facilities like public transport and building school etc. unfortunately they choose to spend the money in this aspect. all i can say is 'what a wise decision transport minister made'. i do not see all these ppl do the works for for the sake of their country, they only do things benefiting for themselve. i really do not see they think twice before do all these big project. maybe all the money is not belong to them.

Today's car engines are powerful & responsive. How to drive 80 km/h in a 3-lane highway. Is this the optimum speed? They should do a study on the optimum speed & not roll out the speed limit randomly without exhaustive testings. Just imagine 60km/h speed limit about 500m or more before the toll booth. If everybody were to follow this, I am dead sure you will curse & swear & traffic build up will be mammoth. I am against AES with 10km buffer above speed limit when the limit itself is not at optimum speed. I strongly support AES for catching speedsters driving way above 140km on a 110km/h stretch, above 120km/h in a 90km/h stretch & above 110km/h in a 80km/h stretch . The penalty imposed should be proportional to the speed over the limit with an upper limit of RM1000.00, NOT RM300.00 flat all the way. Its very unfair.

everybody are not driving kancil anymore nowdays, even some kancil with turbo upgrade. I dun get the point for current govttt installing the AES except to spread their legacy even after they are powerless later year.
