Yesterday placed an FD and was told that the effective date is 13 Feb because of public holidays. Does this mean that when credit card is overdue over the public holidays, the interest will not be counted?

Ths unfair rule has to be intervened by bank negara to ensure a fair practice to the consumers.

Once I opened a FD with OxBx on a Sunday, I think the effective date is also based on following day.

Didn't know AmBank open on CNY eve.

What will be the effective rate?

8k (3.8% for FD) + 2k (0.25%?? for saving/current) = 76 + 1.25 = 77.25 = ~3.1% ??

Just open a brand new OCBC SmartSavers with Bonus Savers Deal @ 4.5% p.a. for 3-month FD.

A new account number is provided for SmartSavers but re-use the FD account number used last Oct-2012

Went to HLB. The 4.18% is only applicable for the FD. The saving/current a/c only gives 0.1% rate which makes the effective rate lower than 3.5% doh.gif

So finally went for OCBC combo again.

But I've 1 question to clarify. If the a/c is creditted on 13/02, the next top up of 1k to the Smartsaver a/c should be done after 13/03 and not before right?

The next topup should be done on 1-Mar-2013 to maximise average monthly balance which is used to calculate the month's interest.

HLB is comparable to Ocbc provided you have junior saving account. The rate is similar to 1 month FD interest. Without junior FD it s not worth to put into HL bank.

Ocbc Smart Saver
If not mistaken it goes by calendar month. Next top up any date from 1 mar to 31 mar.

I heard because of many customers complained, Affin has changed the policy to require customers to
maintain minimum RM 20K in the saving account until 31 March; but no more requires customers to
top-up additional RM 20K for second and third month respectively until 31 March.
*
Ya, it's confirmed by my branch that no monthly top-up needed, just need to maintain min of RM20k right through to 31 March to earn the .33%pa bonus interest. They also confirmed that the Affin Gold CASA is the only acct that is not subject to tiered interest rates. Thus, Affin Gold customers will earn the scaled interest rates on the full sum of their deposits. http://www.affinbank.com.my/banking/condeposit/affingold.htm

can read back few pages back, discussed many times. should be 4.5% 3 months. but must be FD 2:1 savings account.

rm5000 in FD, then need put 2500 in savings account.
