Totally normal.

If you don't know, UM share infrastructure with Maxis

When roam = using Maxis infrastructure

Selecting Umobile manually might reduce this from happen

Anyone living in Penang Paya Terubong or Farlim area using umobile plan?
I am kinda thinking to switch from Digi to Umobile as the cost for just 1gb data plan is too costly.

I checked the coverage Farlim is under coverage but Paya Terubong area is not.
But checked through a few threads, knowing that now umobile is roaming their 2g network under maxis infrastructure, so how is it now? Last time when I tried the speed is like, not moving at all, few years ago.

Anyone can share some insights if you are living in these two areas and using umobile?

paya terubong is just beside my area farlim,

i am using umobile3G and one of my friend is using u mobile postpaid U28 plan ,. most of the time is roaming to Maxis 2G/3G, once a while if near the window will able to catch Umobile3G signal 1~2 bar, ,.. and if you are located near the macdonald caltex, then u will be able to connect to Umobile3G own tower instead of roaming, notworthy.gif

Thanks for the info!
Going to change to umobile soon...
Thinking of buying a simpack to try it out first.

I am currently on Digi postpaid, do you know the time needed to convert me from Digi to umobile?
Because almost near the month end, if the conversation took more than a week, do I get charged from Digi for next month 3g plan?

postpaid voice plan should be charged PRO rated while termination or ported out

usually once u get the Umobile sim card, it takes 1-3 days normally, better confirm the outstanding is cleared @ digi side, no supp line attached, no contract, no blacklist

Thanks for the info guys.
Just got the prepaid plan signed up.
It takes a few minutes in 7-11.
RM8 for the simpack then RM5 inside, use it for the daily plan and do the test.
So far the results is, in paya terubong area, i am certain to receive edge only network.
Then in farlim area, I got 3g and hsdpa signal, the speed is amazing.
A lot faster than digi hsdpa, my phone can only support 7.2mbps so in umobile i got max around 2.7mbps.
I got about 1.5mbps while using Digi network.

Most likely will switch to umobile tomorrow after work.

Breaking News: U Mobile's CEO Jaffa Sany *RESIGNED*

http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/busines...o-go-since-2010

http://www.malaysianwireless.com/2013/08/u...-sany-resigned/

QUOTE
News portal TheMalaysianInsider reports that Jaffa resigned effective today over differences with major shareholder Tan Sri Vincent Tan, despite increasing the subscriber base.

It claims that Jaffa and Tan had clashed over U Mobile’s future direction despite the dramatic increase in subscription in Malaysia’s crowded telecommunication sector.

There had been reports that the company was planning to go the market to raise funds for its expansion but has not given a timeline for its prospective listing.  Previously Jaffa has said that U Mobile would consider listing once the company has 7 million subscribers or 10% of the market share.

He was fired due to “disciplinary action”.

Not providing sufficient bandwidth to users is also considered “disciplinary action” due to his position of Head of the company.
