I think I'm underpaid as the rest of my engineer friends are having average salary of RM5-6k

one of my friend work in MNC semiconductor, 8 years, 10k above, as expat in shanghai

one at british america tobbaco, as manager, 8k above, 6 years

some at oil n gas like petronas, shell, baker hughes, technip, all above 8k, 5-6 years.


regret not join oil n gas since beginning.

what is the field that u work for?

IT for Insurance

well, i heard IT field can get quite high pay, my freinds do IT, fresh grad 5 years ago oledy got 3.8k as starting pay

IT industry can earn 10k - 20k when you reach architect/ consultant/ manager level...

HAHAH..the company kian siap.. hire me peanut do technical work but hire so many QA and PM do noting.

how many years working experience?

if she graduate around 22 years old, 10 years working experience, climb to manager level, no surprise to get above 10k...

my company also lots of young people around 30 years, with 7 or 8 years experience above, manager level get 10k above...

doing techinical....and sometime more understand of manager business on system still get lower from them.

need to teach their staff also

Penang is famous with semiconductor industry, 5 years engineer should be get 5k above, if outstanding perform, 5 to 6 years can become manager with more than 8k above....

I got quite shocked when I read this thread.. I'm considered average / slightly under paid if to compare with other friends working in similar position / field.. I believe there are a lot tai gors out there didn't actually share their salary?
