Hi..cant brain anything already. Very confuse..so decided to get some opinion here.
Im working in citi. 2700 + 350 allowance for a year now.
Recently hlb offered me 3200 + 400 allowance and i accepted, now waiting for my 2 mth notice.
But citi counter offered me twice, rejected the 1st time now they offer again senior position and transfer to different branch. Salary wise almost same with hlb offer.

What i want to know is hlb working environment?better chance to growth or foreign bank remain better??
*
if i'm in your position, i'd stay with Citi.
1stly, ur r promoted, pay almost the same as hlb.
your resume will look much better too, even if u are to leave citi in another 6 month.
u can even demand for more when u leave in future

Job title: Assistant Manager Operations
Job description: Banking line but back end operations (Data Entry experience with regards to securities)
Age: 29 yrs old
Status: Single but planning to get married next yr
Years spent in company: 5 yrs plus a bit
Education: Degree
Tenure : Permanent
salary : RM 5k+ with low bonus of barely 1mth and no allowances
Yearly increment: less than rm200
Working hrs: Monday to Sunday (Gets to choose 2 days off on any day subjected to approval) 2.00pm to 11.00pm
.
Problems: I just feel stuck in my current position. I can carry on working in this Company but god knows when will be the next promotion. Or could change job, but no company willing to pay higher salary as my experience consider useless in their company. Wat more worry tat my current salary cannot 'tanggung' my family if I get married...
.
Appreciate if any one can tell me is it worth staying on or wat path you will take otherwise? Thank you..
*
I think your salary is pretty decent.
But like what you have mentioned, the experience that you have gained will not be valuable in other company.
Can't you find a similar company that offer the job where your experience will be valuable?

else, i'm sorry to say but you have just wasted 5 years of you working life accumulating unnecessary experience.
Choice is your, to stay and be valuable to the company or switch and gain new knowledge.

Bear in mind by switching you might not get as mush as you are commanding now.

Cheers!

Yeah, cause the market is niche.... I can switch to other company with these needs, but like u said, it's accumulating unnecessary experience. I was thinking it maybe good for the coming FEW yrs, but say 10yrs down the road or more, I feel i am nothing much compared to a fresh graduate besides gaining the management skills which again I think not valued by other companies...
*
Management skills are important, but u need the specialization in the field in order to command more.
Else, u will just be stagnant there.

5k before 30's  hmm.gif

That will really depends in what sector/industry

I think it will be pretty easy to achieve by Sales/Marketing sector. Then will be professional field, Engineer, Accountant, Doctor, Lawyer, consultant  & etc.  rolleyes.gif
Other industry will quite hard to achieve 5k before 30's  sweat.gif
*
It also depends on where you are working.

Seriously, if in KL without 5k, it will be hard to own a house. Not that it is not achievable but it's tough.

at this era, 5k is really very little. By 30, you will looking to start a family, more mouth to feed. 5k will barely get you through.

I just received this offer recently. Not sure whether to take it or not... Can anyone share some good company for civil graduate? Really need some extra money...
*
You can try asking for more, but definitely u will have to justify the need of paying more as u r just a freshie.
get some experience, do something significant for the company then move on.
unless u can prove your worth, nobody is going to pay you more than market rate.

and sad to say, market rate for civil engineers is nothing to brag about...
i'm in construction industry too...

I am sure your new work experience will give you a better footing when you look for work in Malaysia.

Of course you will still love Malaysia.

nowadays most freshie can earn 3k - 5k in first years... so good  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

I'm glad that employers have raised up the salary for fresh intakes. rclxms.gif
at least they know that it's not easy to survive with 2k salary anymore.

Apart from that, they should also adjust the salary for experienced people.
Else, people will leave when they start to compare their salary to the freshies.

however most of the SME boss still offer 1.5k - 3k for freshie (company size 1 - 20 staff).. so it is always a big gap here.. i believe it is because the rental keep increasing and more than 50% of gross profit paid to landlord...
*
Only thing i can say to job seeker is that, don't undervalue yourself.
if you are worth 4k, never accept a job for below 4k unless there's other benefits from doing so (niche experience, perks, bonus, whatsoever)
it's the job seekers that accepts job below their worth that is spoiling the market

if your saving going to dry and you only got offer 3k though you deserve paid to 4k above then how?  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

Then it is your fault, cos there's always reason y u cannot get the offer you want.
U didn't find hard enough, you are not good enough although you think u are that good.
But for freshie, very hard to judge...cos no work experience to judge how much are you worth.

2.8k jump to 4k is possible. Provided u have the skill and knowledge to justify the jump.

Yaya of cos dream big but muz b realistic in your request. If u the boss also will you layan this request to jump to 4k? Unless the guy did some super excellent job that rake in big profits for the company it will be safer to request for within 3k range than jump to 4k.

If din do any excellent job but worth to the company and the request reasonable, im sure the boss will consider the adjustment.
*
If didn't do excellent job, then i think u shouldn't request for a raise already.
best is u go for interview to see how much you are worth, then tell ur boss this is what is offered outside. brows.gif

once you open mouth to ask for more you better have plan B if be rejected.. coz they will tag you as "leaving soon employee" and try to train others to be your backup (most of the time)..

this is also quite true, but it's not ez to train somebody within a few months. So most likely (IF YOU ARE DAMN GOOD) they will try their best to retain you.
