Do you guys need amp when using SHP 895 with mp3 player(in my case Palm T|X)...

Cos the volume is very soft, just kinda strange to me...
Even on the max volume, is just like no sound to me...

If really need an amp, what would you recommend ?

Actually, is there a portable type philips cable ? with volume control ?
Wanna bring out, but the cable will get tangled and damaged...

SHP 895 here... XD

Been reading reviews from this thread before buying...
After bought, totally forgot about it...
Maybe too stastified with it... XD

yeah, u really need an amp.ur mp3 player (palm TlX) don't produce enough signal power to drive ur shp895...buying an amp will power up ur signal and sound nicer too...(depend on the source)..

sometimes i do pair my shp895 with my iriver T30, but with an amp.without amp, sounds sluggish to me... sweat.gif amp depend on ur taste.like others always said here, trust ur own ears... thumbup.gif there's either PA2V2/LD micro, depends on ur taste..as for me i rather DIY it...maybe it just me... biggrin.gif

Got the Philips 805 today. The overall structure quite fragile, maybe because of the plastic. I got a feeling that I could easily break it by slightly twisting it.

Those are not the rubber type of flexibility, but rather plastic-to-plastic-assembly type. Anyway, anyone has his 805 broken before?

You mean 890 can be broken, easily? Where does it break, at which joint?

Hp805 looks cheaper and easily breaks compare to the hp890 but actually it is the other way round -.- hp890 breaks to easily i guess.

Sound also more or less the same except that hp890 have slightly better treble and bass.

i feel the bass is not enough..
mean i need to burn it overnight then the sound will be come better ?

and my Sound Card comes with Headphone Amp
8. Headphone Amp specification
1) Output : 120mW Max
2) S/N ratio: 110dB (Typical)
3) (THD+N)/S : -70dB, 0.03% (Typical)

i'm noob here.
how to compare with LD1-LD3 ?
High or Lower better ?

actually, not slight different...
HP890 fully burn in is quite nice.. wanna come? my hp890 + canare starquad cable
IMHO is really good...
HP890 break actually i think is depend on batch one.
i got one Hp890 from mikechai long long time ago, still steady.
but ijan one. when i got it, i repair one side, after very careful use for 8 month, another side broken also.
the silver colour ring right above the earcup,. there inside got two stub. always that one broken.
i think the material defect... heard their factory goes some things wrong during making that batch. so spesific batch easily broken down. but my another one i even drop it and sleep on it, nothings happen. so far so good. and looks like new one also. (since i got from ijan, i keep another one back in box, so far 99% scratchless and still got new headphone smell . lol...no choise, i really like hp890. for it's comfort and sound and price too.
give it an nice burn, it really sound good after that. (when i using ijan one, roughly 1 years old form him, during 1 day, the sound suddenly change. bass tamed down slightly, not as fat, and all treble comes out. and now even more treble compare to ksc75.. ksc75 is like slightly blured compare to the fully burned hp890. i compare it once again , the burned hp890 and my own almost new hp890 and found they sound different.. =)
both also sound good of course.
