since 10 years ago.
at the moment, only samsung android phones support native 3g videocall.
htc, motorola, sony, all dont have this function
Wrong fact. I used to use nokia 6-7years ago to make native 3G videocall. Its aside from dataplan.

could be so many possibilities of defective?
i shall check if my battery can charge to full or not later on... if not, i'm going back to the centre!!

Dont go back to centre. go to service center as the shop selling you wont replace a new unit.
Why didnt you check it whether it can turn on before leaving
By mean charging, did you use wallplug to charge or using pc/laptop usb port?
using plug = 3+hours to max
using pc/laptop usb port = more than 4hours to max.

Thank you very much for your reply.
So other than not being able to update firmware, I can very much do the rest with doubletwist loaded in both S3 and my macbook.
Is that right? Planning the big move soon. My first android phone.
The best way is get someone with a pc to help you root. then install CWM/mobile odin and SuperSU. later on you can download firmware from sammobile and flash the firmware upgrade by yourself without a pc/mac.
