Wow weird choice to confuse. Why so? Cause you wanna go healer? That's the closest I can compare them as.
We'll all join LYN guild. I'll team up with anyone, if not, my friends. And I can only play during night time for a few hours. I'm going to be a slow leveler. I wanna take my time for this game.

Same here, got grounded by wife...cos playing too much on WOW, and Rift.....last time.....I got 1-2 hours to pay in the weekday and about 3-4 hours in the weekend... cry.gif

Most probably go with a range dpser,....most probably the elementalist or the ranger...

I'm gonna share what I know and what I am planning to do on release to maximize the game early on.
Some of the decision is based on the guild and the alliance planned on the server I would be planning

5 Characters: -
- 2 Main
- 2 Alt (for point capture/ support) and Crafting
- 1 Bank/ AH/ Mule (common for all MMORPGs)

Why the Mule character?
- Action House. While you can access the AH from anywhere, you need to talk to the AH NPC to collect ur money or stuffs you buy from AH, thus the mule would park at the city and do this role. Everything can be mailed from my mule to my character.
- Extra bag slot. This would be the extra bag slots (mostly for higher level gears) which I won't keep in the bank. Would mail over to other character when they reach the level.
- Extra 2 crafting. This is crucial as eventhough I already have a team of 4 other players, I always prefer to have my own crafter.

Crafting
- Minerals/ ores are the most important and rare-est cause they are harder to find (at the edge of maps), on clifts, underwater or caves which is crowded with mobs. They also have gems which can be used or craft. Generally they are used a lot for any profession.
- Woods and plants are generally easy to get and not widely used in a lot of profession actually.

Jewelcrafting
- From my testing, it is the best as the rings, amulets and earings are all really good since you craft the stats you need and they outclass every other ones you can get else where (tested up to lvl46).
- They are the costliest as well though usable for all characters.
- Hard to level and the other unwanted stats you get from crafting can be sent to lower level chars.

Weapons (weaponsmith, artificer, huntsman)
- Generally need wood but those are easy to get.
- The hard part comes from the supplementary materials which determine which stats you want. So spend those wisely.

Armor (tailor, leather, armorsmith)
- Generally easy to get the mats if you follow natural progression as you would get a lot from mobs as you salvage.
- Note that lower level materials are harder to get.
- Again the supplementary materials are hard to get.

Chef
- Totally useless unless you WvW a lot and in a group. Mats are usually really cheap off AH anyways.

General crafting leveling: -
- Don't craft so fast, craft the materials upgrade till they turn yellow/ green only proceed to discover new recipe/ follow recipe. This is very important!
- Craft gears as you level every 5 levels as the gear you crafted are really good to help you progress.
- Trade/ AH for materials, it is really hard to farm all the materials to lvl up ur crafting

^ from my experience since the initial early access to the beta/ event till now with 200ish profession level in most of the professions

Leveling
- From my experience of all 5 races (at least to lvl 15), the Norn's area is the best of all. The maps are widely spread with a great variety of mobs. The human one would help you complete your daily archivements easier though.
- They also have the best lore as you are dealing with one of the dragons since the early part of the game.
- Asura's quest are the worst for me.
- Human's are polished but boring after a while.
- Sylvary is quite fun due to the type of minigames like tower defence.
- Char's one is decent with loads of jumping puzzles if you know to find them =)
- Story change at lvl 30 when destiny's edge is introduced and from there you chose a branch between the 3 main factions in GW2
- Some mobs are overpowered
- Most personal quest would prefer you to have high burst rather than sustainability

Added on July 31, 2012, 2:54 pmanother bonus tip: ur traits reset when you buy the tome to unlock the next tier. so don't worry so much on lvling traits. only problem is that those tome are not cheap and thus you can be broke from crafting then can't buy the tomes (happened to me and a couple of my guildmates)

From Guru's latest news, offering tips for moving / starting a guild to GW2. There is a section I thought could be a bit helpful for our folks who are not aware of how servers work. Find complete article here.

Dealing with Servers and Regions
Perhaps one area where there has been the most confusion is in the matter of servers. Many players have concerns over the effect on them if they cannot roll on the same server as their guilds or friends. Here are the effects you'll come across if you do not manage to roll on your guilds chosen server.
You will be able to join your guild if you are in a different region or on a different server by using the guesting mechanic.
You will be able to PvE (guesting) and sPvP together, no matter what server you roll on, as long as your servers are in the same region (US & US/EU & EU).
Guild chat and mail all work even if you are on a different server.
You will be able to play with EU players if you live in the US (and vice versa).
You will not be able to WvW with your guild if you are on a different server.

You may of course pay to change servers, but only after 7 days have passed. The fees for this vary by server population:
1800 gems to transfer to a high population world
1000 gems to transfer to a medium population world
500 gems to transfer to a low population world

Go Ele! Ranger with bow is boring =/ but with greatsword YENG! But Melee lol. Why not try the build calculator sites, with them maybe you can have a clearer understanding thus a clearer choice.

Mine is cause of work. Same like M1X. Hopefully I still can catch up and not fall too much behind everyone.

personal preferences i guess.
i love ranger with shortbows for the kiting and condition stacking with longbow for sniping.
the best part about ranger is of course the pets and pet swapping.

my problem wit elementalist is that you can't swap weapon so you need to plan well for situations.
for example, staff is really good for big battles and if you got a well balanced team (frontlines and support) while you nuke while scepter+dagger combo is really good for small fights, burst and survivability...
since you cant swap weapon, it is really annoying when you are caught in an unwanted situation (happen so often during WvW)

so go try every profession during the first day by going to the Mist and PvP (since u get to lvl 80 with all skills and gears)

pretty good...
longbow have a knockback skill to create some distance if they do get near...
u also have cripple effect, chill effect and some other traps to kite...

i used a spider for PvP as the F2 allow me to web-root the target as well

Haha, I was just simply saying. I'm not a ranger guy. And I've only tested Ranger in Mist. But they amaze me with GS. Ranger wield GS, how cool.
But they really can make longbow skills look SLIGHTLY nicer. Wait, i promise i wont complain lol.

Ele also not my thing. If i play ele i think 90% of the time i sleep on floor. Haha

A question for you, I know all armor smiths can craft bags. Are they the same? So a jute bag and armor box is the same? They just give slots? Because no point I go for leatherworker since I'm a Heavy armor guy right?

lol agree on the animation of longbow...
then again, because it look so plain it is really fun in PvP (they wont know what hit them) thumbup.gif

best ele skill = ride the lightning...
too bad they nerf it to a single line now, used to be able to turn =(

it is the same if i am nt mistaken (or they change it)...
but i know armorsmith can craft the special "reinforced" type of bad which items wont be npc or sorted if in those bag...
i use it to keep all the weapons which i use for PvE...

so i think it is ok to stay with armorsmith since u are heavy armor...
armorsmith and jewel is what my guardian learn for crafting...

No, it seems like.

From wiki:
Craftsman's Bag — Looted crafting material is placed here first.
Equipment Boxes — Looted weapon and armor are placed in these bags first.
Invisible bags, packs and safe boxes — Items in these bags cannot be sold to merchants; they do not move when inventory is auto-sorted.
Oiled Packs — Looted junk is placed here first.

And,

Bags = Tailoring

Packs = Leatherworker

Eq Boxes = Armorsmith

Then there is Invi Bag, Pack and Box.

I am confuse in choosing this 2 profession is because I like the effect of elementalist when casting magic where else for guardian I like the way it uses the hammer as a weapon and also the heavy armor being worn it's just fabulous and cool.
