so, is it safe to say payment before 11am-12pm MON malaysia time for US purchases would enable us to get the weekend rebate?
*
you try lah and let us know the merchant you did the online transaction with. The safest is around 12pm-1pm Sunday as zenquiz mentioned because we may not know where is the processing office located. For example, agoda.com, they have offices located in different regions.

Public Bank Prepaid Debit Card, goto this thread and ask. Reason being, you can control the damage in the event of a fraud since you control how much money is in the card. Unless you are talking about substantial amount for overseas transactions, then I guess any Maybank Visa or MasterCard credit card will do since the it offers the lowest overseas conversion fee.

QUOTE(Mart @ Sep 10 2012, 05:44 PM)
Not sure if this was asked before, i just got my Maybank2 Card & also supplementary card for my wife.

She used it over the weekend and when i checked on the maybank2u website, here's the following which i dont get (maybe some bros can advise me  smile.gif )

1. Under my AMEX card# (im the principal), i have outstanding RMXXX (This amount was swipe by my wife using her supplementary AMEX card). I havent swipe mine yet.

2. Under her supplementary AMEX card# page, it shows no outstanding amount but she has gain XXXX treat points. Transaction history does shows she swipe the card for the weekend.

3. Under the Treat point page, i have ZERO treat points and there's no way to see my wife treat points also.

4. Maybank didnt sms or call us that we have swipe the card. Is this a normal practice ?.

Also is this normal for maybank2u website to display such confusing ways or something is not right here ?
*
1. This is correct. Unlike for example CIMB where Supp cards have separate statements, MBB combine supp cards transactions into Principal cardholder's account. You will see this in Summary when you receive your paper statement.

2. Refer item 1.

3. Bro, please read your item.1&2 where you answered this item yourself. You have zero TP because you have not swipe your card yet as mentioned in your item1. As for to see your supp card TP, you mentioned in your item 2 - "but she has gain XXXX treat points"; therefore you can view your supp card TP.

4. Read this thread. There are some that charge more than RM10K also no sms or calls. What you should do is call MBB and check your telephone number against their system and request that they set the sms alert default amount to your liking. You can even ask them to sent sms to your phone for your supp card transactions smile.gif

*
thanks for the update and since bodybuilding.com is in US (they have 3 main shipping centres), 9am Monday = Sunday in USA.

But the site is great, they have live chat, if really want to know location of their online transaction processing office, can live chat and see if they know, haha

I assume you ordered some protein powder ? Is this your first time ordering from that site ? Is your order total value more than RM400 ? Because if your total order value is more than RM400, there could be some problems at the custom...

You know what, your above statement just hit me - if people here going after the AMEX 20% cash back realize that they need to spend RM2K to qualify for the cash back based on first come first serve basis starting Monday morning.

And does using maybank2card amex give rebates in duty-free shops as well?

If you are referring to 5% cash back on weekend yes. And if you referring to discount like those offered with Citibank at Zone (still got promo??) or CIMB at Eraman then the answer is No.

Given a choice, will you pay to Agoda via PayPal on a weekend or using the VISA/MC 6% discount?

I can't make up my mind now... laugh.gif
*
QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Sep 16 2012, 02:55 AM)
Use VISA/MC for sure   smile.gif
*
I am of the same opinion as MilesAndMore.

Like I said in my article on Discount for Agoda Rooms Bookings , for bookings up to RM1K, the diff betweeen MBB 2 AMEX (7.5%) less MBB Visa/MC (6.5%) = 1% or for RM1K = RM10 diff. And for above RM1K, better go with MBB Visa/MC.

The reasons I can think off why one would go with PayPay for agoda (using AMEX on weekends for the deposit) is

1. The agoda booking is less than RM1K.
2. Not utilizing the 5% cash back allocation on weekends
3. Has credit in pay pal account and wants to use it up.

SERVICE TAX - PRINCIPAL (LOCAL).    RM50.00 DR

15-Sep-2012 (Trxn Date) / 15-Sep-2012 (Posting Date)
PAID SERVICE TAX (LOCAL) RM50.00 CR

May i know what is this transaction about? Do i have to pay anything?

If it is your card anniversary date - Government Service Tax. Read page 1 for more info.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 16 2012, 02:06 PM)

Anyway, will book directly with the hotel as the rate is cheaper than Agoda, let me check again. hmm.gif
*
cheaper after 6% or 7.5% discount? If yes, yah, better book direct smile.gif AND if you check out on a weekend and pay at the hotel using your Mbb 2 AMEX, you can earn up to 7.5% returns thumbup.gif That's what I will do for my local stays, I may book the room giving them my Visa or MC number and when I check out I use my AMEX smile.gif

QUOTE(zenquix @ Sep 16 2012, 09:44 PM)
1) weekdays (RM)
MBB2 Amex - eff 2.5%
Visa/MC - eff 6.5% (normal). eff 7% (2x pts if considered overseas - plats only)
VI - eff 7% (2x pts), 8.5% (5x if considered overseas)

2) weekends (RM)
MBB2 Amex - eff 7.5%
Visa/MC - eff 6.5% (normal). eff 7% (2x pts if considered overseas - plats only)
VI - eff 7% (2x pts), 8.5% (5x if considered overseas)

3) weekdays (forex)
MBB2 Amex (2.5% forex rate) - eff 0%
Visa/MC (1.25% forex rate) - eff 5.25% (normal). eff 5.75% (2x pts if considered overseas - plats only)
VI (1.25% forex rate)- eff 7.25% (5x overseas)

4) weekends (forex)
MBB2 Amex (2.5% forex rate)- eff 5%
Visa/MC (1.25% forex rate) - eff 5.25% (normal). eff 5.75% (2x pts if considered overseas - plats only)
VI (1.25% forex rate)- eff 7.25% (5x overseas)

So Amex only comes top in one type of transaction. Assuming MC/Visa 6% discount on Agoda
*
Fantastic detail calculations on the effective savings and comparison rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif notworthy.gif Conclusion, don't go with MBB 2 AMEX for booking your hotel room with agoda but instead go with the MBB Visa/MC 6% discount smile.gif UNLESS you can pay with your MBB 2 AMEX on weekends in RM.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Sep 16 2012, 09:44 PM)
ah you paid in RM? Then it doesn't matter. Though Amex cannot be used to pay an RM bill on paypal.
*
Yah I always select RM for my agoda using my credit cards. Paying with Pay Pal for agoda booking was a reply to fruitie's consideration in using this option.

As for the second sentence, I got no idea if AMEX can use to pay RM bill on paypay. My Pay Pal account Primary currency in is MYR and I top up using direct debit from my bank account.

well, if it is not there then go to the branch and request for it to be linked.

We can now buy GOLD (paper gold) with your Maybankard Debit or Credit Card at selected Maybank branches.
Bad is that MBB's spread is one of the largest but do offer online trade.

If we can "untung" before the Statement Due Date, it's using the bank's money to earn money (RM0 capital)

No TP sad.gif

Second paragraph above, not necessary untung - if gold price drop,

bro, i know 2 transaction per day, from your link, but this doesn't show how many available to grab (where most of other got say, eg: 1st 10k tickets only). and source is i never see from maybank website. from there i presume all Visa from maybank is available (where cherry card also considered)
*
Bro, it's not a Maybank Promo but Visa's. Therefore applicable to all Visa cards.

I started off my post by stating Great News for those who of been booking their movie ticket online; therefore they can instantly check the promo out. For those of us not use to booking online, need to do some "work".

The ad was in the newspapers on 17 September e.g. The Star. To me it's Visa way of promoting their new security measure i.e. OTP, and encourage more to sign up for it.

Anyway, those of you who have been booking GSC tickets online, please report if you managed to get the free ticket with your Visa card.

For those who are not aware what we are discussing about, below is what I posted earlier.

To ALL:
Maybank has come out with a Blogger Contest asking them to blog about "Why Maybank should give me tickets to Legoland".

I guess the above shows that Maybank acknowledge the influence of blogger's comments on their products. So smart of Maybank to use us to promote their products for FREE.

Come to think of it, I am stupid to have been promoting for FREE their wonderful cash back Maybankard 2 Cards American Express and Visa Infinite for local and overseas transactions respectively. But then again, these two cards are truly good in rewarding the cardholders; and, the reason I blog in the first place is to share the benefits of credit cards with you guys.

Many of you here have posted at this section that you do read my articles and some of you were influenced by it and ended getting the MBB 2 Cards and OCBC TMC smile.gif

And to show my appreciation to my readers who have to bear my long winded articles, I have written another long winded article on it smile.gif If you have time to spare, please click below link to read more:
