undine, from your list - my choice base on your limited input would either be the R6 or Z1000.

Another good choice for distance travel you can opt for is the Z1000SX. But having the said 3 bikes, I am not sure if the downpayment is enough.

Litre bike or not, it is up to you how you abuse it. If you are discipline and maintain your own pace, I do not see an issue here. You are the rider, you control your bike - not the other way round.

The naked monster is high with torque, light and you will really enjoy twisties. In straight, u’ll be smoked.
If R6 is around 78k, 675R is the best contender you must consider too. At least 675R come with package of a performance parts.

12-18k downpayment restricts your bike choices

it's quite hard to find hire-purchase financing package for bikes, and not many banks are offering it, and when they do, the margin is only 70%

so, from your max dp of 18k, you only have a rm 55,000 cap bike price

and don't forget you need to factor in insurance (rm1,000+), road tax (rm 250+), and your riding gears (rm 1,000+ at least for helmet, glove, jacket and boots)

so if you are still interested to get a supersports, like the r6, then 2nd hand is your another option

you drop my water face! mad.gif

hahahaha... laugh.gif

mine was a replica (better word for fake blush.gif ) dainese mesh jacket

can't comment on how good or tahan it is

but just remember that, wearing something fake is better than nothing, rite?

i think most sifu bikers would agree if i say it's still okay if one were to wear a fake jacket (but not a racing suit), fake gloves for basic protection - but don't ever get the fake helmets (many fake arai / shoei in the market) EVER

so, in conclusion, wearing a fake padded jacket is better than wearing none. so, go ahead

i wear my fake dainese every day. serves me 2 purpose - basic crash protection, and prevents me from getting sun burnt on my forearm. laugh.gif

usually, the price would be the thing that would give it away

a basic shoei helmet, an open face for kapcai use one, is already about rm500+

a basic shoei full face will start from rm 1,000+

same goes to apparel

the cheapest dainese mesh jacket will start from rm 500 - 700+,

and a pair of basic alpinestar glove would start at around rm 200+ (racing gloves is about rm 1,000+)

hahaha.. can't think of the word "replica" when I was typing. Sorry notworthy.gif
Anyway, that item is only Rm170 so might worth trying right? As you said earlier, have a bit of protection is better than none.
Oh, as for helmet I will never get a fake one. The head is so important as to compare to with other parts of your body. Definitely need a good protection for it. Authentic helmets is a must biggrin.gif
How is your Nolan N85 anyway? Not using it anymore after the tank slap?

yes certainly limit my choices >.<
i do have a separate budget for the gears rite now so im not really worried about that atm

675r is the triumph daytona right?
tested that one last year..gotta say i love the build. so comfortable n da exhaust position thumbup.gif

the thing about getting a 2nd hand is that im worried about the bike history
considering i have practically 0 knowledge on big bikes, thinking bout the worst scenario is really scary

loving my n85

it's light, and has enough ventilation for my everyday hot city traffic ride, wide viewing port, integrated sun shade,

just scratches on the chin bar (after the tank slap incident), which is hardly noticable due to the graphic decals

see if you can notice the scratches in this picture, near the chin bar

u can always bring a mechanic friend and ask him to check the bike for you

but yeah, that's one of the risk you have to take if buying 2nd hand bikes...

i was listening to traxx fm (yes, i have shity radio in soviet sarawak, no hiz, mix, era, or whatsoever) about this car show co-hosted by JPJ senior, che mat, and yesterday it was about cheap superbikes with foreign plates

he has a very interesting fact:

even with proper documents and all shit and that, the bike can only be used for max 3 months in a year in malaysia road (anyone can confirm or did i hear wrong?)

and with whasoever documents and connection you have, foerign registered bike cannot be in malaysia longer than 3 months. JPJ has record and they WILL go after you.

and due to insurance issues, only the registered bike owner (meaning someone foreign or someone with foreign PR) can ride the bike at any time
huhuh... put a damper to many who called to ask about cheap super bikes advertised in our local internet websites...
so, lesson learnt: pay corrupt AP holders to import your bike on the cheap.
and oh another thing, every malaysian citizen is granted ONE AP PER LIFETIME, provided he can proof he has worked overseas for at least 9 months. this one very interesting...

QUOTE(phobian @ Sep 8 2012, 10:40 AM)
Seeking further clarification to this, did you mean that the chassis number of the Thai's R1 remains the same and not using the totalled R1's chassis number?

Please note that I am not asking about that specific bike advertised but generally what most people would do on cheap big cc bikes.

Having said the above, this is quite a selfish act. Why do I say so is because if in the event of any accident involving such bikes, they have no insurance and may face serving jail time.

Anyway, such things have been happening all the time. Even if the track bikes and cars intended for track use must possess proper customs and rights from necessary parties.
*
It might be, since i've heard few people using this technique to get a cheaper car/bike and usually it was used for cars from Singapore. In fact 1 of my friend did offer me a Malaysian car but was originated from Singapore. Well people will do anything to get what they want sweat.gif shakehead.gif

QUOTE(icecolddamncold @ Sep 8 2012, 11:11 AM)
u know what, im not sure whether to bring back a superbike, or a supercar

to be honest, i fancy superbike more now  at least its still within my affordability range like my dream S1000RR which cost around US$15k here, bring it back to malaysia with 10% import tax (can anyone confirm this figure?) and free AP + shipping let's say US$18k-US$20k ~ RM60k.. still worth comparing to malaysia >RM100k

and if i would bring back a car, it would be the Cadillac Escalade tongue.gif quite rare in msia i suppose... never seen one in malaysia but my place was flooded with escalades.. not a supercar but i like SUVs
*
my friend brings back a Honda CBR1000RR 2006, cost him around RM30k all in to bring it back here from the US
He just sold it last month for RM54k laugh.gif
If u can afford to buy the S1000RR, u should go with it. But prepare to have a higher tax
Last time the agent that handles the shipment said there's 1 Harley (not sure what model, year 2011) still haven't cleared the tax which cost RM26k sweat.gif Getting a few years old bike will entitled u for a cheaper tax, for example the Honda CBR was taxed less than RM10k..
