As of today (25/7) my two years of 'blood, sweat and tears' contract with Unifi is done.

Now I have other alternative to choose (if any).

Best part was TM CS called me offering me three months waived fee if I resign for the VIP5 or 10 package. I told her straight
1- If I decide to re-sign, why would I downgrade frm VIP20 to VIP 5 or 10?
2- I'm  no longer obligated to any contract with Unifi,  now  you offering me to re-sign and kena two years lagi...have you been smoking pots?

I just hang up  tongue.gif

Hi, my VIP5 contract would be expiring soon in Sept.. dunno should I continue or look for alternatives..

Maxis have also given me free trial for more than 1 year of Maxis HSBB fiber to my condo unit... trial speed around 10Mbps but when I download a 800MB firmware for my iPhone...

I find the Maxis broadband throughput is really slow... speed goes up to 3-4Mbps when the the rate-limiting kicks in and my speed drops back to 1Mbps and slowly climb back to 3-4Mbps... like a sawtooth when view from a bandwidth graph... whereas when I download the similar 800MB files using Unifi VIP5... it was straight 5Mbps throughput till completion... took less than 30mins to complete the download..

At Hong Kong, around RM55 monthly you can get 200MBit unlimited fiber broadband. It is because their internet infrastructure, backbone and also their rules and regulations made no one act like TM malaysia

Just noticed my download can only get 2-3mbps while upload is 10mbps on my VIP10. This test was done at several local servers such as those hosted by Maxis and Yes. Wrongly capped case? hmm.gif

Hmm, i just buy a pair of Rj45 from the hardware shop (rm2 per biji). It is essentially a repeater, so what I did is I cut off the redundant wirings, and re-wire so that 4 pairs from the single port will go into 2 pairs each of the 2 pairs of the output port. There, I can plug 2 cables from Internet and IPTV port into the splitter, which then goes thru a single cable to my hall, and i use the other splitter to split the 4 pairs to the STB and my HTPC.

Its simple really, its done at a physical level, so you won't need the trunking function of the TPLink. However, you do lose the gigabit lan capability. This is great for those that already did concealed wiring with only 1 LAN cable.

If still interested i'll try to make a mini guide or something. this is the cheapest solution i think so far tongue.gif

The splitter i bought is this one here.
