Really?? Damn.. I guess we got screwed over bigtime.. cry.gif

Maybe you don't start from Haneda but from Narita which is far from Tokyo? BTW, the exact fixed taxi fare to Tokyo is not 6000yen I mentioned earlier but 8000 yen (~RM320) after I re-check...The link:

All type of transportation mode in Tokyo..ehh Japan also expensive lor.. biggrin.gif That's why in Japan, one single thing you really need to spend is the transportation cost. I can say is the most expensive in Asia. Even taking the bus to Tokyo is also not cheap from Haneda - 900yen (RM36) for a mere 25km. Imagine you travel in a group of 4 - it will be ~RM150 dy. and if midnight, double up that amount & you travel in 4 to Tokyo by bus rclxub.gif

At this rate, travel by taxi to Tokyo using taxi is probably much better choices biggrin.gif

Actually the objective of this trip is to explore Tokyo - shopping, sightseeing, etc... for 7D5N.. the reason not to travel to Osaka/Kyoto is because I'll be bringing a kid there.... do u think it's wasteful not to explore to other cities instead of just Tokyo? Do you think 7 days in Tokyo alone will be too much ? Btw, which area of Tokyo has a good central location with nearby MRT with a decent price around RM300++ per night?

Is there any hassle taking the city train with all the luggages because my feeling is that the Tokyo's city train is hugely packed with peoples?

Added on October 29, 2012, 5:13 pmIs Tokyo within the Fukuyama radiation zone? Is it safe to travel to Tokyo next year?

1.) The closest station to Toyoko Inn Haneda Kuko is Otorii, on the Keihin Kyuko line.

http://www.toyoko-inn.com/e_hotel/00042/index.html

You can use Hyperdia to see the cost.

http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html...ed&sum_target=7

OTORII
[15 Min]
Keikyu Airport Exp.
¥190

SHINAGAWA
[10 Min]
JR Yamanote Line(Inner loop)
¥160

TOKYO (or SHINJUKU or wherever you are going)

I travel to Tokyo quite frequently and this is my preferred way. At only 350JPY/RM14 you save a lot on transportation.
Travelling with luggage is no problem. I had a 20kg suitcase this trip and was still ok.

2.) Don't worry about Tokyo, it's safe, and it's a long way from Fukushima. Don't listen to those ignorant people who warn you not to go if you want to get pregnant etc etc, they are just scaremongering.

3.) A good place to stay is near Tokyo station itself. Kanda is a good location, just 1 stop from Tokyo station and very accessible. Tsukiji is also good, allows you to walk to the Fish Market. Ginza also has several affordable hotels despite the location.

I previously stayed in the following 2 hotels. Dormy Inn was excellent, but quite expensive, and Hatchobori station was more inconvenient than expected. Flexstay Kanda is quite cheap and location is good, only 5 min from Kanda station.

why does most ppl always think the next city after Tokyo along the Tokaido line is Kyoto/Osaka?
Do they ignore the existence of Nagoya (aichi, ise, etc)?

Wrong

Kansai International Airport are not Osaka Aiport.

Kansai Airport are Kansai regional biggest airport to replaced Osaka old International Airport.

Kansai mean Kyoto + Osaka + Kobe together.

Now curret Osaka Airport are for Domestik flight only....it also call Itami Airport. Itami used to be Kansai Regional biggest airport and handle international flight until year 2000 replace by current Kansai Airport.

So dun mess up Kansai Airport are Osaka Airport.

Just got back from my week at Tokyo. Had a really nice time. Weather was great (only 1 day rained) and the food was so good!

My flight was delayed 2 hours, no thanks to AAX. When i reached and got out was already 12.45am. Only choice was taxi. 8800 yen including toll, to Shinjuku.

Went around Tokyo including Disneyland (Halloween theme and everyone was dressed up), Odaiba (Tokyo Joypolis was fun!) & Hakone.
Was lucky to see Fuji a few times.

Yodobashi at Akihabara really has great prices on models and figurines. Even the shops around there or Nakano Broadway arent's so cheap.

Hope to go again soon!
