yes it is possible to upgrade the GC on a P170EM. HD8970M is available on ebay now.

as for GTX780M, you need to wait for someone else to modify the vBIOS.

Am looking to purchase either the NP9390-S or the NP9380-S but I need some input.

1) Can these laptops support the future nvidia 800 series gpu?

2) Since the 780M was launched couple of months ago, should i wait for upcoming 800 series, which might take up to a year from now?

Have a NP8690 and the left side fan is driving me nuts

Everytime I boot the left side fan sounds like its flicking against a wire, and I've cleaned it + heatsink to no avail. No vibrations. It goes away after 5 minutes or so ... randomly comes back or not at all. HWinFO logs show the fan is spining up and down as usual.

Looking for a replacement fan now, does anyone know what model/spec or who supplies them ?

Any visible markings on the fan showing the part number? Take a photo & post.

No numbers on the fan enclosure and awaiting Prince J's feedback. Had a google around myself but most places had no stock.

Found tilting the laptop makes the sound go away, so I'm now using it upside down ... which is alright since its hooked up to an external monitor, keyboard/mouse & speakers. Not a long term solution though.

Have a sager NP8690 (Clevo 860CU) and just replaced the GC fan sourced from illegear (recommended seller!)

Was abit too excited and forgot to see which way the cable was connected. Laptop is running now, but just checking if this connection is correct ? Red Wire to the left.

easy way to check feel if the fan is sucking in or puching air out through the exhaust vents in the rear of the lappy when it's on.

Has anyone considered Origin PC Malaysia? Looks like they now have branch in Malaysia aside from US.

Still working nicely. Only LAN port burnt from sudden thunder strike (which I use LAN cable at that time)

Guys, i just bought a Clevo P170sm-a from gentechpc and since this is my first time owning a sager laptop, can you guys give me some advise on how to take care of it. My previous laptop is studio xps 1645 and it lasted for about 4.5 years before the mobo capacitor got burned and was hoping i could make this new laptop of mind last a bit longer.Any advise.
