Root it so that you can install Stickmount and mount USB drives.

Get your tab running first only talk about rooting la.

Find a WiFi asap. Or grab someone smartphone use their tethering

since this is your 1st android device i suggest familiarize with android before root

read more about android, especially on abd boatloader fastboot cwm rom kernal etc.

once your hand is itchy to flash rom and kernal download nexus 7 toolkit to do the job, unless you are ok with the command typing job

hey guys i'm getting the Nexus 7, and i was kinda wondering/hoping that it is compatible with a projector cause in my work i use my projector a lot. seeing that the tablet uses a micro-usb, i was wondering if using this adapter (picture below) and a mini-to-micro usb adapter (second line) will make it work.

Can buy USB otg cable from most computer accessory shop. Its universal. Just make sure you buy the micro USB one and not the one for galaxy tab. You must be rooted to use it on the Nexus 7 though

I suggest you to at least unlock bootloader first. Else next time when you got tonnes of data inside, you'll cry for not unlocking them when you first receive it.

Thanks for the reply on USB OTG. Will go to Lowyat and look for it. Another one is on the Play Store credit. Once I claimed it, can I use it to buy in app purchase? Also, can I use it to buy apps for my phone or just limited for purchases via Nexus 7?

I don't think you can get it cheaper from lowyat. Maybe cheaper than those shops in shopping mall but shouldn't be cheaper than buying online

I'm very tempted o flash glazed ROM.
But after reading 60+ pages, that ROM got a notification bar icon cut off bug.
Wrong version number, and some other small things.

Unless the custom ROM offer some really unique creative features or extra function,
Don see the need o flash.

Stock ROM really solid. Till today nv hang or slow down.

Just noticed that Bugless Beast has a build out for Grouper (Nex7 hardware codename), which came as a bit of a surprise to me since I thought Pete only concentrated on phones.

Anyone tried it yet? I'm still on stock. Rooted to install AdAway and play with dpi settings, but haven't really felt like flashing a ROM yet.

The credit is for use in the play store only AFAIK and not for in app purchases. The credit will be shared with your phone that is registered with the same google account.

Even without Samsung name, the term galaxy is enough to remind people of Samsung.

This tab is always called GOOGLE nexus 7.
There's barely any mention of asus, even our thread also call Google.

before Gnex, ppl also called Google nexus S instead of samsung nexus S right. I feel that is better/unique when ppl keep mention GOOGLE instead of htc/sammy/asus. dono why they put Galaxy for the 3rd gen nexus, made it like part of galaxy range.
