hello guys,mind to ask, do y480 gt650m have serious heat problem ... till need to remove optical drive??and how the temp without removing it and without external fan(min & max load) ?? or it just after OverClock the temp rises....such high i hope somebody with answers...and explainations,I am interested with this lappy with such great price in decent spec

Ya, why ur cpu throttle to 1200mhz?
Did u try to stop i7 turbo boost to reduce temp?

Y480+gt650m no serious heat problem as its using FULL copper heatsink for effective cooling. The HDD temp is a bit high under extreme stress, but its within the save limit.
If u gaming for long hour, suggest to get a cooler. u can refer to post#1 for user test on idle & load temp.

Y480+gt650m all come with graphic memory GDDR5 and ram 4GB DDR3(1600mhz).
Pls ensure u get the drivers CD & check the part No. of new Y480 is 5934-1161 on the box before u open it and official specs is:
Ideapad Y480(5934-1161), i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M (GDDR5) @RM2499[JBL], 4GB DDR3(1600mhz), 500GB, backlit keyboard, freeDOS, drivers CD, 2 yrs warranty

Pls get the official receipts/invoice & register on-line to extent ur warranty to 2 yrs.
If u wish to add another 4GB ram, pls ensure u get the same freq 1600mhz & ask them to install for u to ensure its compatible. Try to ask for free upgrade.

Its cheaper (around RM2340-2380) to get from garage sales where some ve the shop at Low Yat or u can check with Thundermatch since their price list also ve this model.

i'm planning to buy a Y480. It wil be my primary computer as i selling my desktop. Its this laptop is ok for long term of usage ? since the hdd temp is quite hot there. TQ.
