I bought the Y480 with GT650, the spec really worth the price (RM 23XX) rclxms.gif

Woww.. congrats. I think you bought the freedos version right? Can I ask if you faced any problems during windows clean install (buttons don't work, one key etc)? Currently wondering whether to fly down to KL and get one or not..
Any experience with the Y480 msata ssd?
Thanks!

I called up AllIT in lowyat to ask fr theY480/GT650 but they said it was all SOLD OUT! cry.gif

Another garage sales place still has it but the RAM is DDR1600 + DDR1333. Wonder if that is going to cause any problem hmm.gif
Anyone got experience with that? And where to buy a msata SSD 32/64..

Go download from lenovo website ba...

I don't think the website drivers are exactly the same. I downloaded all the Y480 drivers for a total of 1.2GB but the Lenovo driver CD has more than 3.5GB on it.

If anyone dun have the driver CD better get a new one from the seller quick.

Anyone having problems with games or nvidia drivers? Battlefield3 seem to have problems with fullscreen, witcher 2 can't get past the loading screen, deux ex will freezea few seconds when i face a new direction/new area, etcetra. Not terribly nice mobile gaming experience so far.. think I regret ditching my desktop already. sad.gif

Wonder if anyone wanna start a gaming forum for Y480/580?

dude! you can OC it to be same like GTX660M without any problem. But risk on your own.

Could I ask for help please? Was trying to do some benchmarks and overclocking on the Lenovo 480 but all of them games including FUrmark keeps running off the Intel HD instead of the Nvidia gpu. The only thing that can run on nvidia is the windows experience index.
Have tried using the nvidia control panel (3D settings) to set global settings to use 'high performance nvidia processor'. Also added furmark in the nvidia program settings to use nvidia processor. Also right clicked mouse to launch furmark using nvidia. But it still kept using the HD integrated graphics. gets 7fps in 720p! it says "Open GL renderer Intel HD graphics". Confirmed by GPUz
I am using nvidia driver ver 295.93. If not for this problem the Y480 is a lovely machine.

Help from anyone here greatly appreciated!!

Yeah, definitely have the rocket symbol there.
all on direct socket power and power plan = lenovo dynamic graphics
But GPU load for nvidia always 0%

bios setting. switchable graphic.

OK found the problem.
Lenovo Y users kindly take note not to use nvidia 295.93 drivers on the lenovo CD. It disables graphics switching. Use the one on Lenovo website (295.5x)

Question, how do i change from Intel HD4000 to my nvidia GT650M manually?
*

[/quote]

enable switching graphics in BIOS
install nvidia drivers (but NOT 295.93 on the Lenovo CD)
GO to nvidia control settings and set global setting to run high performance nvidia
go to energy managment and set to max (the rocket)
NOTE: this will suck the battery.

Njoy! Really kick ass. Can run ultra settings in Battlefield 3 with no lag and no throttle.

can u post some BF3 screenshot with fps & ur setting, CPUID temp reading. Thanks.
Waiting to see how GT650m OCed to GTX660m...  brows.gif

OC to gtx 660 speed with MSI Afterburner. (Core 975. mem 1300) GPUz shows new speeds but on load, the max core clock speed is not responding to Afterburner - max speed still stock 885mhz. only can OC memory speed hmm.gif
Maybe msi only support forceware ver 296. Anyway, no 296 version from Lenovo yet. Anyone manage to OC core speed with Afterburner?
Kinda waste if not overclock core as the GT650 with DDR3 version (eg clevo) all run at stock GTX 660 speed anyway.
However, the memory speed is really overclockable...

u can try 304.48 to OC GT650m, as it tested by deepcool0922 & notebookreview HERE.
do post ur results for comparision with Y580.  brows.gif

Y480 OC to core 1020 mem 1300 using forceware 304.79 + afterburner 2.22
Temp up from 74C (stock) to 83C. Fairly loud but stable in non aircond room
I think Y480 is good choice for poor man's GTX660. At less than RM2400 can't complain smile.gif
What's the max temp for kepler? anyway afterburner already maxed out core speed. Better not fry the hard disk.

Wahhh... u OC GT650m better than GTX660M.   thumbup.gif
Unfortunately, no 3dmark11/ HW monitor info. GT650m(GDDR5) seems to be very clockable.
There is still some thermal headroom for higher OC. Try 3Dmark11 above 3k++.  brows.gif

Some one on 3dmark site has OC a GT650 to P3500+ shocking.gif Too chicken to overclock that far.
Anyway, as requested. 3DMark at 1020/1300 with Forceware304.79/Afterburner 2.22.
Just found out a stock GTX570 scores 2720

*Gaming Update*
Y480/GT650 at native res:
Deux Ex HR, Alan Wake, Battlefield 3 & Metro 2033: Smooth at maximum detail.
Witcher 2: Cannot play smoothly at ubersampling or Ultra spec sad.gif
Max Payne 3: All max except MSAA. Smooth gameplay with MSAA 2 - 4x needs overclocking with afterburner.

I have a 1600 + 1333 RAM. Don't feel any different. 3Dmark11 score of 2700+ and gaming is so sweet. All games run smooth on Ultra or High spec in native res.
So don't worry too much about the RAM if you can't get the 1600 RAM.
