Anyone else with RDMBP have this problem where the battery estimated time keeps changing? As of typing this, I'm at 96% with estimated time of 4:01. But just 3 minutes ago I took this screenshot and it shows 5:12.

Is this normal or is something wrong with my battery? What it should be showing is 7:xx.

Actually this is normal. The remaining time fluctuates depending on your current task. Once you are idling or have less intensive tasks, then the remaining time will increase. Vice versa - on a heavy workload, the battery remaining time will decrease appropriately.

Oh, OK. Thanks for clearing that up. I'll still try the calibration, but good to know that it's not a problem with my battery. Thanks!

hahha i do have the 13' mba. but i feel having two laptops seems pretty redundant. i bought the mba late last year when i needed to travel. now its an alternative laptop. for me, i dont feel the 'reliability' of the mba, with it having sucha small hdd and with it being so thin and refine, you wud think that it wudnt be able to handle massive jobs. hence i only use it for perhaps some light editing etc on the go. i am thinking i still need a powerhouse to handle my workload.. rclxub.gif

Are you a Final Cut Pro X and AE user on MBA?
Not sure you have to closed others RAM-eater applications like Firefox or Photoshop to preserve the RAM for rendering video smoother in FCPX? Since your MBA model is only 4GB RAM. I had this spinning ball appeared oftenly and the whole OS "hang" for over 10minutes plus sometimes. After i upgraded from 6GB to 8GB ram, this issues seems lesser than before. That's why i am thinking moving to MBA is about time. Yeah, also consider a light editing on the spot. I do have monitors for external viewing source.

Now i get it why you are getting iMac. Haa..you had experienced different 'workstations' already. I did came across video editor reviewed about AE on MBA with good performance. But not mentioned about the others heavy memory applications was actively at the same time.

Does anyone know whether Machine, and other Apple Premium Resellers in Klang Valley have stock for MBP RD display model (2.3Ghz)?

If so, I will travel to KL tomorrow morning. Fast response will be great.

Thank you.

Keyword: 2GB RAM. In the day and age of Lion (especially Lion) which isn't efficient with RAM allocations, 2GB won't cut it. Which is why power-starved older model users stick to Snow Leopard.

Why a new os is worst than the old os?? instead of upgrading the hardware, why dun they make it more efficient in ram allocation?

Afraid new macbook air will have similar issue sad.gif

Do you see the system requirement improving in Windows? What's enough now, will not be sufficient later. 2GB RAM is like 2008 model, 3 years old at that. If you wanna use it still, ask him to stick to Snow Leopard. To move up to the latest and greatest, you gotta go for more recent Macs. With MBAs, this is even more critical since the RAM isn't user-upgradable.

If Mountain Lion is anything like Leopard-Snow Leopard, it's an install-over type. Just need to download from Mac App Store, install and restart. Done.

2GB RAM was the norm when buying a laptop in 2005.

As the OS upgrades, you need to upgrade the hardware to support it too.

Just got my NEW mba. Switching from MBP late 2011 to this, i don't see a difference, except its lighter(duh) when i put it in my bag.

No lag, no slow performance. But then, i only use it to surf, watch movies and songs la.. Using Pixelmator as well.

What specs? My bro has the last-gen 11inch, and it tends to lag occasionally. But the current-gen specs seem pretty good.

I actually considered getting an MBA end of last year. I used to travel a lot so it was getting annoying carrying a heavy Windows laptop.

But I couldn't resist getting the RDMBP after it was announced tongue.gif
