6-8months eh? okay den i would consider the iMac. im currently using c2d 15' mbp. its been about 3 years already, and being in the design field i kinda need something more updated to handle the rendering and editing needs. hence im now considering either an iMac or the new mbp. but i think the iMac seems to be the better option as its more  capable. i could use my old mbp den for portability.

you guys agree? hmm.gif

I am having the c2d 15 mbp too. Same age like yours. But i am planning my next mac is going to be mba 11 inch.. Haa.i think it can handle the works i am doing especially video editing. The upgradeable to 8GB RAM is the most hype to see from MBA.

Well, not appropriate for painting works anyway due to screen size which i have to face it everyday.

After these years, MBP is darn heavy whenever i traveling back and forth from hometown..

The "feather" weight and powerful processor on MBA seems to beyond my MBP spec. But the built-in GPU card and Big Screen which makes me think twice to sell off my MBP.

the GPU card is already a few years out-dated but it still can manage most latest games that i interested. So, it don't really becomes an obsolete machine in my daily usage.

From 15inch downgrade to 11inch screen... Hmmm..

Anyone doing this and no regret?

If got a car to carry MBP is perfectly fine.. but by walking... Ewww...

talk bout damage... i got my mbp logic board replaced twice. That's one of the ideas to get rid of something already out of warranty.

Thanks for the retina model recommendation. if last time, my money spent on c2d can get the highest spec of R. model..haha

After these years survey, research and study on apple product....i won't go for their newly release product..

RMBP 15" still heavier than 13" MBA, right?

hahha i do have the 13' mba. but i feel having two laptops seems pretty redundant. i bought the mba late last year when i needed to travel. now its an alternative laptop. for me, i dont feel the 'reliability' of the mba, with it having sucha small hdd and with it being so thin and refine, you wud think that it wudnt be able to handle massive jobs. hence i only use it for perhaps some light editing etc on the go. i am thinking i still need a powerhouse to handle my workload.. rclxub.gif

Are you a Final Cut Pro X and AE user on MBA?
Not sure you have to closed others RAM-eater applications like Firefox or Photoshop to preserve the RAM for rendering video smoother in FCPX? Since your MBA model is only 4GB RAM. I had this spinning ball appeared oftenly and the whole OS "hang" for over 10minutes plus sometimes. After i upgraded from 6GB to 8GB ram, this issues seems lesser than before. That's why i am thinking moving to MBA is about time. Yeah, also consider a light editing on the spot. I do have monitors for external viewing source.

Now i get it why you are getting iMac. Haa..you had experienced different 'workstations' already. I did came across video editor reviewed about AE on MBA with good performance. But not mentioned about the others heavy memory applications was actively at the same time.

Waoh..Thanks for sharing this awesome DPS plugins for Mac OS X!

It's been always bothering me how to punching more loudness from my speaker.. This plugins did the job impressively without needing a golden ear to notice the improvement.

Last time, i bought the BitPerfect. The improvement is not so significant. And it have to disable to allow others sounds to work for youtube or video player.

This is such a convenient and realistic sound improvement application.

I got a Macbook Air 2012 BTO (Build to Order) from Machines MV.  Put a 50% deposit and got it in exactly 2 weeks.

Only advantage from resellers is I took the 0% interest plan for 6 mths.

Btw, anyone know where I can get the Just Mobile Lazy Couch (yeah, it is expensive I admit)?  The 2 sellers in LYN are out of stock.

Wondering others Apple Resellers out there provide this BTO with installment plan too?

Thanks.
