Hey guys i tried to port forward some ports following all the instructions to the letter, but it still doesnt work. If i change to a custom router will it work??? many people faced the same problem, as they cant seem to get their ports forwarded mayb a firmware problem.

You're lucky. Those with the newer Huawei HG850a provided by TM is not possible to access and configure internally. sad.gif So no possibility to use custom router.

I think my RT-N56 should be up to it.

hi guys new user here

i just recently changed from UniFi to Maxis...

god the Thompson sucks as hell...is there any way i can use the TM router instead? Do i need to use a custom firmware for it? I don't mind losing VOIP to change this shitty router.. I've been facing disconnect issues within my LAN

Dear all sifus, sorry to hijack this to ask something. I'm thinking to bridge my Huawei modem and Maxis router wirelessly with 2x Dlink DAP 1360... Is it possible? Tried for hours but no success. This is because I do not want to hack the fibre cable all the way to my living room. Thanks!

I don't understand why most people complaints that router heats up easily.
Is it because the router runs 24/7 ? Or is it because the hardware build is terrible?

Hi any chance you can post some screen shots of your vlan setup in the tomato interface itself rather than the ones that are up? I have just installed one of the tomato variants onto my wrt54GL which has vlans so I can use with maxis but its very confusing if you havent done it before.

much thanks

QUOTE(kurogane @ Jun 16 2012, 04:06 PM)
Ok, this is how I use my WRT54GL router with Maxis FTTH if you have  Huawei HG850a GPON device. I assume it's mainly for landed properties.

Basically I followed all the instructions in this guide by rizanvp: http://unifi.athena.my/mikrotik_rb250gs.php

The difference is on the VLAN tagging, which is done as below:

Maxis has a lot VLAN's used, but the main ones should be:

621 Home Fiber Internet
822 VOIP
823 IPTV (apparently)

Possible to define more than those listed, but not sure how to go about it for now.

Following that, the port assignment. This assumes that;
Port 1 = Huawei HG850a
Port 2 = Your router
Port 3 = VOIP device
Port 4 = IPTV.

After setting that, connect your own custom router as usual and enjoy biggrin.gif

Gotta love those delicious bandwidth graphs in Tomato!

TODO: Find out how to use VoIP in this setup. Unfortunately, my router is not a SIP device, but I assume if you have a SIP-enabled device, you can tag VLAN 621 and 822 on the same port to allow SIP connection.

Because its terrible. Am really stunned at how bad it is. If you riun a fan and aircon its cool, but turn it off and I am guessing it may be a fire risk :-(

wow! is it too bad?

my thomson on 24/7 with no aircond no fan just a default setup, running smooth without any problem related to router

mines stable too, but i guess everybody has their own definition of what's hot. Probably, these thomson routers generally run hotter than what most people are used too. But I don't think they'll catch fire, haven't heard such a thing happening to these thomson routers online, so must be still within their design expectation.
