I prefer to stay in Hoi An and chill there.

You can however arrange a day trip to Hue and visit 3-4 attraction spots. (eg; palace, 1-2 tomb/temple, etc)
If you do this, you can also enjoy the scenic drive along the way to Hue.

Anyone been to Hoi An recently? Like in the past 1 to 1.5 years? Saw some news that the entrance fees to old town Hoi An was being abolished during Covid19 to encourage tourism. Now they are reinstating it w.e.f. 15 May.

I'll be in Hoi An from 1st to 5th May, so i guess i don't have to buy the old town tickets?

I went there last Feb and stayed 4 nights at Hoi An alone. I didnt pay the fees but I saw the counter ticket was there. Just casually walked past them alone without trigger any suspicion

I actually planned to spend 4 whole days in Hoi An. Feels a bit excessive now that I'm reviewing my itinerary 😅 do you think i can skip buying the ticket since it seems that it's only applicable w.e.f. 15 May?

Btw, how long were you in Hoi An for?

Based on my research, it depends where you want to go. Private car booking definitely will be more expensive.

For my upcoming trip to Da Nang/Hoi An:

- from Da Nang city to Ba Na Hills - taking Klook shuttle bus
- from Da Nang to Hoi An - asked my Hoi An hotel to arrange for me. They have the cheapest rate since I plan to stop at Marble Mountains before continuing my journey to Hoi An (Marble Mountains is in between the 2 cities, and I need private car to leave my luggage in while I go explore the mountain)
- in and around Da Nang/Hoi An - seems like the most convenient way is to book grab/gojek

You can check with your hotels on their rates for private car transfers too. Sometimes their rates are more competitive than Klook's. I also found another travel agency from google search that offers 300k VND for transport between Da Nang and Hoi An. Typical grab rate is 350k VND

i'll try ask hotel and see. im heading to hoi an directly from the airport, and then after hoi an, heading to ba na hills directly (if possible), then only head back to da nang.

klook shuttle bus is a large van rather than a bus right? i have a kid and a baby, i think better private car. 300-350k is ok i guess

Actually it's more like a mini bus (https://s.klook.com/c/ejy27bNpyP). But i think it only runs from Da Nang. And yea since you have kids, better to take private car for convenience and comfort 👍

Btw, not all hotels provide competitive private car rates... so try and shop around for the best deal. Good luck to you!

Depends what you like.

Bana Hills = European town experience

Hue = Ancient Vietnam history/building
