QUOTE(Vengeance_Mad @ Feb 26 2018, 05:59 PM) Hi all, lemme give you some ideas from my recent Hoi An trip. what hotel did u stayed in when you're at hoi an?In total I went there for 5d4n (14th - 18th Feb). Day 1: -Arrive airport (12-1PM local time) -Proceed to check-in hotel in Hoi An Town. -Went out walking around the town for lunch and light bites. -You must try the Banh Mi (Baguette) there, one of the best food I had there. I forgotten the name of it, but its near the same row of shops with "Highland Coffee" corner shop, across BeBe tailor. Although TBH, only some of the food there is really nice. According to my sister who had been to HCMC, there are more choices and nice food in HCMC. -Had vietnamese coffee in Mango Mango restaurant in town, must drink if you like vietnamese coffee. -Continue strolling around the ancient town, chillax in of the the restaurants and proceed to night market before back hotel. Day 2: -Early departure for Hue trip. It's a 2-3 hrs drive from Hoi An therefore its going to take an entire day trip if you do not stay in Hue. -Dropped by Marble Mountain for a quick stop, but found unable to cover all due to time so we just take the elevator up and have some quick snaps and left. -If you like cave built temple, I think you can take a longer time here. -Proceed to Hue, we used the scenic route, looks nice but can be skipped if you're not into the scenic coastal view as its zigzagy and narrow so not recommended for those motionsick people. -Hue Citadel is a must (for me coz I like ancient buildings, very china-esque palace). -Lunch in some local kopitiam due to CNY/Tet eve, so not much is open. -Thien Mu Pagoda can be skipped, not very impressive. -Khai Dinh tomb. It's expensive entrance fees, ard 100K VND/pax iianm. I think not really worth the price as there's not much to see. -Never had enough time to go for Ming Manh, and Tu Duc tomb sadly. -Back to Hoi An town for dinner and back hotel. Day 3(CNY/TET actual day): -Most hotels there provides bicycle as it is a good way to explore the small town. -We went for cycling around the ancient town. -Not much is open during the day as it was their CNY. -Had chicken rice which is nice at 'Com Linh'. You should try. -Had Coffee at "Hoi An Roastery". They have 4-5 outlets around town with some in strategic location. Can try albeit I feel the Mango Mango one is nicer. -Chill around town till night, and went to night market for some shopping. Day 4: -Cycle to town again, looking for artworks and souvenirs and last day shopping. -Had coffee in Highlands Coffee chain (its like their local starbucks with their fraps). Nothing special, better of stick with vietnamese coffee. -Evening chill in "The Deck" in Hotel Royal Hoi An by Sofitel, one of the only 2 5 stars hotel in Hoi An iianm. Basically its a sky bar overlooking the ancient town. Drinks are not too expensive, can consider if too much time and no where to go XD. -Had dinner and chill again in ancient town before heading back. Day 5: Morning departure to airport and leave. ***Other info : theres way more food to eat in hoi an/hue many food originated from there actually |

QUOTE(Vengeance_Mad @ Feb 27 2018, 12:48 PM) I stayed in Le Pavillion Hoi An Luxury Resort and Spa. its true HCM have more but those food originated from hoi an/hueYes there are more local foods but we did not try much of the street stalls during daytime. xD But as for the food comparison, it was my sister who told me there are more nice foods in HCMC than Hoi An. I havent been to HCMC so I just listen.. haha thn being brought to the city like HCM the original flavour would be at central vietnam like bun cha is originated from hanoi, so it taste the best in hanoi and served differently too each part of vietnam have their own different kind of food unlike the whole malaysia share the same food thats the interesting part of vietnam |

QUOTE(peet @ Jun 15 2018, 06:08 PM) No itin required. If u wanna skip Danang entirely, when u land at the airport just take a taxi to Hoian (20-30mins). U can ask the taxi driver how much first. Around 350-400K vnd is fair price. If u need an MPV, ask for a 7-seater xe bay cho (pronounced: say bai chor). It VN, its always a std practice to tip... dun be so stingy to pay the exact amount. For eg if its 360... just pay 400. these are my list of placesAt Hoian, relax, walk around and pop into those travel agencies to arrange your bus tours to Hue. Recommended ones are Sinh Tourist. Maybe u can share your list here and I can offer my comment. Bà Nà Hills Fantasy Park Marble Mountains - Ngũ Hành Sơn Son Tra peninsula Ban Co peak Bach Dang street – night Chùa Linh Ứng – Lady buddha Hoi An ancient city My Son Sanctuary An Bang beach Night market in ancient city Imperial Citadel Tu Duc Tomb Tomb of Khai Dinh Tomb of Ming Mang Thien Mu Pagoda Walking street plenty of food near Truong Tien bridge On the way to hue, can stop by famous Hai Van pass these are just rough list of places, not sorted yet |

QUOTE(peet @ Jun 20 2018, 02:49 AM) Bà Nà Hills Fantasy Park - some ppl like it, some ppl hate it. I have always skipped. many here seem to prefer a private driver from hoi an to hue to that they can stop at the hai van passMarble Mountains - Ngũ Hành Sơn - can visit at least once. Son Tra peninsula - not sure what this is. Ban Co peak - not heard of this. Bach Dang street – night - Yes, can walk along the promenade at sunset. Great for ppl watching, Chùa Linh Ứng – Lady buddha - Uhm not sure what's this. Hoi An ancient city - A definite YES. I would stay at least 2-3 nights. My Son Sanctuary - See my other answer to the lady. An Bang beach - This is within cycling distance frm Hoi An. Night market in ancient city - If u mean the stalls near the bridge, they are open every night but u can cover it in 10-15mins. Very short stretch. ALL BELOW, YES, ITS COVERED BY YOUR LOCAL TOUR. USUALLY COVERED IN ONE DAY. HUE IS A SMALL TOWN. Imperial Citadel Tu Duc Tomb Tomb of Khai Dinh Tomb of Ming Mang Thien Mu Pagoda Walking street plenty of food near Truong Tien bridge On the way to hue, can stop by famous Hai Van pass - It's nothing at all. Coaches will not stop, unless u hire yr own car. as for those da nang places, i'm a hardcore traveller, i often find place that less ppl go with killer views just this is the 1st time i ever do 3 places at once so the transportation part for me is abit worrying..thats why need opinion on how those who had been there travel around because i read, i even saw train from hoi an to hue |

QUOTE(peet @ Jun 20 2018, 04:06 PM) I am not sure what's the attraction with Hai Van Pass. It's just an underground tunnel. And to hire a pte driver just to make that one-stop is it worth it? That's a question that only u can answer. i dnt think hai van pass is an underground tunnelBtw to hire a local driver is no problem at all.... the problem is most of them can only speak Vietnamese. Ur right, with a driver u can specify where exactly u wanna go, but u still need to communicate with the driver to tell him where to drop/pick u up...esp around the Citadel as it's a no parking zone. So its back to the language issue. The last time I went with my group, we encountered this problem but fortunately I can speak Vietnamese so no issues. it's a hill side road even if u google it, none of the picture showed underground tunnel |

QUOTE(Vengeance_Mad @ Jun 20 2018, 04:46 PM) In order to cover the entire Hue Citadels and Tombs and Temples, I think you will need to stay 2d1n in Hue. my plan is still flexibleIf ur gonna travel from Danang/Hoi An to Hue for daytrip u will definitely have not enough time as I've done that. Only the citadel itself you might need to take 1.5 hours to cover the entire city with some light reading of histories + photo. It's like the great ocean road basically. Scenic coastal drive. i'm actually prepared to stay 2D1N at hue actually, all accommodation not confirmed yet actually mind sharing your experience on how do u travel from hoi an to hue..vice versa and how do u travel to say hue's attraction?...grab? |

Woke up to a rainy morning, at least i have planned to rent a bicycle and ride it to an bang beach but sadly it rain almost throughout the day and it rained heavily especially when i'm walking around ancient town around 9-10AM Since the ticket granted everyone 5 entry to any of the many museum and temples in hoi an 1st stop is museum of folklore ![]() ![]() after walking around the museum of folklore...it was already around 10.30 and my custom made shoes fitting is scheduled to be on 11AM i head over to 09 shoe shop, reach near 11AM but they inform me there is delay and ask me to come back 1 hour later With an hour to kill, i headed to the famous black sesame soup(Xi ma phu) stall that is nearby there...it's somewhere at the opposite road of Hoi an orphanage and Catholic Cathedral Can't miss here because the drum of her stall will also write "xi ma phu" ![]() ![]() Price is 10k/bowl it is a bliss to be eating a hot bowl of xi ma phu when it just rained and the weather is cool After walking around there to kill time, i return back to the shop for fitting and picking my shoes After pick up my shoes, i walk to Bánh Mì Phượng for lunch, the other most delicious banh mi shop in hoi an and there was a queue outside it but no worries because the queue move quite fast ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Price is 25k/each banh mi |

After finishing our lunch, we hit a few more temples and museum around hoi an while completing our walk throughout the whole hoi an ancient town
![]() ![]() We bought this drink when we're walking, they call it "mut", for me it's basically our calamansi juice but it's not sour at all, 10k/cup ![]() Before you know it, it's already dinner time For our last meal in hoi an, we settled for Cao lầu Không Gian Xanh We ordered Bun thit nuong, Cao lau and wanton soup(which actually came with noodle) and this shop's cao lau is the best i've eaten, way better than the previous one no need to say about bun thit nuong because this dish is basically my favorite dish in the whole vietnam..it's a must order for me ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After finishing our meal, we walked around the ancient town and the night market which opens everyday to see if there is anything we wanted to buy before we leave After that we went back to the hotel and call it a day because we need to wake up early tomorrow for our hoi an to hue drive through hai van pass |

Day 3
Today we've booked a private car to take us from Hoi an to Hue https://www.transfertohoian.com/tour/transp...ue-private-car/ First stop will be marble mountain which is like 15-20 minutes from Hoi an town only The entrance ticket for marble mountain is 40k VND/person There is an option an elevator for 15k VND/person but i don't think it's worth it I always saw blogs mentioning there is an elevator that takes you to the top Apparently it only eliminates the 1st fleet of stairs from your journey only so it's totally not worth it at all This is the only stairs that you eliminate using the elevator ![]() Upon reaching up by stair, this will greet you first ![]() ![]() If you chose to go up using elevator, you'll be greeted by this first ![]() These are all the attraction at the same level and you'll be able to enjoy it by walking around After that, we'll have to climb more steps going up ![]() After passing that hole, you'll reach a place where you can do some rock climbing should you want to At the place of where they're doing rock climbing, turn left...there is an entrance to a cave THIS cave entrance is actually a gateway to the top of marble mountain and it's not an easy climb should you want to proceed it's tight and tricky inside and apparently not a lot of people chose to do it and just keep walking straight Should you chose to do it, once you've entered the cave, you'll be greeted by this ![]() just keep going forward and eventually you will reach the top ![]() The view on top should be quite spectacular if the weather is good but unfortunately it was raining when i was there and that adds up the difficulty to reach the top more Once you reach the top, there is another way down on the other side NEVER EVER go down the way you went up because it's too dangerous, you could get hurt based on the position of those rocks After u reach bottom, it's actually the same place where you entered the cave if you walk back abit Continue forward and you'll enter a another cave This cave basically has a temple in it and the lighting is ![]() This will greet you at the end of the cave ![]() ![]() The whole marble mountain can be finish in about 2 hours |
