Cool, how much did you pay for your private driver from Hoi An to Hue?

Since I'm on a budget, was thinking of taking the train from Da Nang to Hue instead tongue.gif It's quite cheap at like RM30/person, and according to this website you can still pass by Hai Van and enjoy the scenery - https://www.baolau.com/blog/train-from-da-nang-to-hue/ hmm.gif

When u travel around Danang in grab car, if u find a nice and polite driver, can ask him for Danang to Hue day trip.

Last time I paid 1 million Vietnam dong (approx US$42) for 10 hours day trip

If you don't have much time, hue can be done as a day trip from da nang. You can comfortably see tomb of khai dinh, minh mang, thien mu pagoda and imperial city in a day

Agree. Hue can do day trip. when in Danang, spare an evening for Hoi An which is 30 mins drive away

Hi I am going for a 4D3N trip to Danang and below is my brief itenerary

1st Day – Arrive Danang at 11am. Take bus to Hue
2nd Day –Explore Hue in the morning. Hue to Hoi An in the afternoon
3rd Day – Explore Hoi An in the morning. Hoi An to Da nang in the afternoon
4th Day – Explore Danang in the morning. Back KL in the afternoon

Appreciate any comments on the above...I am still contemplating whether to go Hue or Hoi An on the 1st day

Also, since I have limited time at all 3 places, appreciate if anyone can advise the must go places in Danang/Hoi An and Hue

You only have 4 days. try not to squeeze in so many places. Learn to take a relaxing holiday that doesn't involve rushing from one place to another and check-in/check-out hotels everyday.

Pause for a while, take in the scenery, enjoy the view, the people, the food and the culture of the places you visit.

Hi guys, due to time limitation, do you guys suggest Bana Hill or Hue for a day trip? Would like to know which trip is more worth to go. Thanks!

Depends what you like.

Bana Hills = European town experience

Hue = Ancient Vietnam history/building

hi all,
I am planning a trip to Danang & Hoi An. Will give Hue a miss as I don't have enough time.

A few questions...

1. What is the time of the year to avoid travelling to Central Vietnam?  Non monsoon season

2. How to get from Danang to Hoi An?
Since ayam B40 on solo trip, not gonna hire a private driver.  Grab

3. Money matters
To use cash, credit card, Wise card or QR code? Cash

4. Traveling around Danang & Hoi An  Grab bike
- Taxi, Grab, or motorcycle hailing?
- Can we rent bicycle in Hoi An?  Yes

5. I might need to travel with my laptop (ayam working everyday of the year). Is it safe to leave the laptop in the hotel during the day?  If properly locked in luggage = Yes

no forms needed. Immigration software are more advance than Malaysia. It can record all your passport details when the officer swipe and they do away with manual forms and app

ayam sorry if necro an old thread - couldn't find a Vietnam thread, nor a PHU QUOC one - just a quick one - what are the do's and don'ts at PHU QUOC - going there for a 5d4n stay with kids, just wanna mentally prep before going.

1) Stay at Grandworld for more activities and nice clean beach + casino
- Rent an electric bike to get around (too big to walk)

2) stay at Duong duong for a more central area and have a lot of food choice + night market, highly recommend Empire Hotel (but very minimum activities and the beach are dirty and ugly)

3) Sunset Town can do day trip
- daytime take cable car to waterpark
- Sunset view at Sunset Town are spectacular
- Night laser show
- The private beach is nice and the beach at waterpark are also clean n nice

thanks michaelchang thumbsup.gif
is the electric bike kid friendly/allowed to ride with the parent?
any chance you could share transaction-wise .. if they prefer digital form of payment or cash, am not sure how much cash to exchange before going over - am guessing roughly 500K VND per meal for a fam of 4 should be comfortable? so min. 1.5M per day on meals?  sweat.gif
any particular con/activity to avoid - eg pickpocket, gypsies, and those rose/bracelet con job @ Paris / overly enthusiastic "gladiotor" at Rome, that charge a bomb AFTER taking photos..last time travel without kids can navigate a little easier, now gotta be extra wary  sweat.gif

1) Yes, kids can ride with parent (I usually carry my Gf)
2) Vietnam are still cash society for foreigners
3) At Grandworld, I don't eat breakfast , Lunch approx 80K-150K/person, seafood dinner cost approx 800K - 1 million for 2 person
4) Vietnam are a lot safer than Europe but occasionally have some petty thieves and pickpocket if u are not careful. Phu Quoc are much safer than HCMC because not crowded and no reason for someone come too close to you.

All activities that I went do not have "hidden" charges.
1) gondola ride
2) cable car to Hon Tram
3) sea walking
4) The Quintessense show (night)
5) VinSafari and Vinwonder
6) Teddy bear museum

There are also free attractions during daytime and night. Check with Klook for ticket price for the above attractions

I highly recommend Vinholiday Fiesta hotel (best location at Grandworld) and behind the hotel have 2 shops that rents electric bike (I negotiate for 350K for 2 days rental) can get cheaper if u were to walk further inside Grandworld as some offered 300K for 2 days
