why not go hoi an straight after u land?
thn go hue next and pass through the legendary hai van pass
thn back to danang for the rest of the days?
u don't need private driver for ba na hills, why not just buy the ones at klook?
the only disadvantage is u only have until 4PM before u left....engaging private driver to bana hills is not cheap based on what i research(alot more expensive)

Need to be at Hoi An on Day 6 coz that is the full moon day. Will I pass through Hai Van on the Hue-Hoi An route? Or the Da Nang-Hue route?

Alternatively, perhaps I can rearrange my schedule so that Day 1-5 Da Nang; Day 5-7 Hoi An; Day 7-8 Hue, Day 8-9 Da Nang.

I did consider just buying the Ba Na hills package since it could work out to be cheaper, since includes transport+tickets+lunch. But I don't like the idea of needing to follow tour guide's schedule and timing and all.

How did you travel from Da Nang to Hoi An?

1. Ba na hills last time i book grab a day before ask him morning 7am send me go Bana Hill then tell him wat time u him come back fetch u back to Danang Hotel. Agree on one price I think 700k dong. (u can try lower . For me 4 ppl share oklah)

2. For Hue i use FB - Tommy Dao or Hoang Anh Holiday

3. If you book hotel at Hue..try ask whether they got driver to fetch u from Danang to Hue. Cheaper

4. I didnt go. haha

Thanks for sharing. Tommy Dao' and Hoang Anh Holiday's packages look very interesting too - which of their package did you take? How's the review like?

hue to anywhere is considered "back" already, most people/driver will just use the tunnel for this route unless u use private driver and specify them to use hai van pass
not sure if it's as exciting since it's going backward
danang to hue thn will use that route

actually use the tour and private driver not much difference actually
the only difference is timing(by few hours), if u plan to stay until night thn u have to use private driver which is alot more expensive
because using tour, u have until 4PM only
and there is no schedule, they bring u until the middle section which is the buddha's hand...after that u can opt to roam bana hills by yourself if u don't wanna follow your guide(his schedule)
just be back at the meeting point at 4PM only laugh.gif

Okok. So means I can still visit the Hai Van pass on the Da Nang-Hue route! That's a relief.

Yea for the Ba Na hill, I will consider taking the tour since the difference is just a few hours then hmm.gif May I know how you got to/from Hue? Did you hire a private driver?

yes, i hire private driver to take me from hoi an to hue
he will stop at a few places along the way
it's recommended to ride a bike for the full experience(if u know how)
i don't...that's why i opt for driver instead

Cool, how much did you pay for your private driver from Hoi An to Hue?

Since I'm on a budget, was thinking of taking the train from Da Nang to Hue instead tongue.gif It's quite cheap at like RM30/person, and according to this website you can still pass by Hai Van and enjoy the scenery - https://www.baolau.com/blog/train-from-da-nang-to-hue/ hmm.gif

Anyone been to Hoi An recently? Like in the past 1 to 1.5 years? Saw some news that the entrance fees to old town Hoi An was being abolished during Covid19 to encourage tourism. Now they are reinstating it w.e.f. 15 May.

I'll be in Hoi An from 1st to 5th May, so i guess i don't have to buy the old town tickets?

I went there last Feb and stayed 4 nights at Hoi An alone. I didnt pay the fees but I saw the counter ticket was there. Just casually walked past them alone without trigger any suspicion

wow! did you enter any of the attractions, e.g. the Japanese covered bridge, Phuc Kien Hall, Old House etc?

I actually planned to spend 4 whole days in Hoi An. Feels a bit excessive now that I'm reviewing my itinerary 😅 do you think i can skip buying the ticket since it seems that it's only applicable w.e.f. 15 May?

Btw, how long were you in Hoi An for?

thanks! seems to be best option? cheaper than Grab?

Based on my research, it depends where you want to go. Private car booking definitely will be more expensive.

For my upcoming trip to Da Nang/Hoi An:

- from Da Nang city to Ba Na Hills - taking Klook shuttle bus
- from Da Nang to Hoi An - asked my Hoi An hotel to arrange for me. They have the cheapest rate since I plan to stop at Marble Mountains before continuing my journey to Hoi An (Marble Mountains is in between the 2 cities, and I need private car to leave my luggage in while I go explore the mountain)
- in and around Da Nang/Hoi An - seems like the most convenient way is to book grab/gojek

You can check with your hotels on their rates for private car transfers too. Sometimes their rates are more competitive than Klook's. I also found another travel agency from google search that offers 300k VND for transport between Da Nang and Hoi An. Typical grab rate is 350k VND

i'll try ask hotel and see. im heading to hoi an directly from the airport, and then after hoi an, heading to ba na hills directly (if possible), then only head back to da nang.

klook shuttle bus is a large van rather than a bus right? i have a kid and a baby, i think better private car. 300-350k is ok i guess
*
Actually it's more like a mini bus (https://s.klook.com/c/ejy27bNpyP). But i think it only runs from Da Nang. And yea since you have kids, better to take private car for convenience and comfort 👍

Btw, not all hotels provide competitive private car rates... so try and shop around for the best deal. Good luck to you!
