ease of use seems to be very suitable for beginner, and tons of room for you to advance and learn how to use manual control, top with the best image quality in the same class/size. most compacts fall short on dynamic range and low light performance due to smaller sensor. or you can look at panasonic LX7 if you're not ready to pay above RM2k for a camera.

if come with flappy screen the size of the camera will be bigger. Not everyone need such function and not to said it will make the camera more fragile.

in the price gap between RX100 and RX1, i do think RX100 is more welcomed by the public...

hence, i would hope for a RX10 with probably an ASPC sensor? hmm hmm...

i've come to realize that, buying a FF DSLR *and* great glass is going to cost more than the RX1. if you put a mediocre lens on D600 or 6D or 5D3 it probably won't beat the RX1 in IQ.

still it's a different market. current the only FF compact/mirrorless you can carry around is either films, or Leica M series which cost a bomb...

Those good prime lens i think cost less, and not to mention some L lens of canon like the 17-40mm which cost like 2k+ only, pair along with a 6k camera may still outperform that sony 35mm in terms of range, quality wise i also dunno how good this 35mm is but 17-40mm is a really good lens. Hey it got a L on it.

But the sony one is really tempting it looks like something the Fuji is doing. Got some kinda of MOJO in it. Make it look attractive just hope it could be around 5k instead of 8-9k.

That 35mm lens has the Zeiss mark on it thus it stands on the same level as Leica glass. Anyway the RX 1 is for those wanting to emulate the old street photographers like Henri Cartier Bresson. You just need that one camera. Haha. biggrin.gif

hi guys,

How much longer to wait for a sony camera like RX100 to drop price like minus RM500 or more?

Is it possible to be happened in next 6 months?!

I not sure whether Sony Camera will only drop price when it is replace by its own new generation or another stronger competitors out there?!

I am thinking of in replacing my old bro, panasonic LX3. Just over Rm2k for a camera is kind of turning me off at the moment. The moment i saw it in sony shop with its price tag i stop explored bout it. Truly i was in love with its pocket-able size.

Didn't know this little wonder is surprisingly outstanding after watching a few youtube videos reviews since yesterday.

Decision need to make within this two weeks.

yes.. very "Different market segment"..
firstly, the weight and size.
of course the dslr has lots more functionality to them but its a really obtrusive instrument...
going to a social dinner party (jackets required) with a big bag and cam can be taxing on one's social standing...
or even a nightclub where u need to constantly keep an eye out for the cam/bag..
even the nex is considered big with its 18-55 lens.
but the new 16-50 is interesting with the nex6...
just sold off my nex5 with the 18-55 but keeping the pancake and the uwa and fisheye adapters and waiting for the nex6 to come on over..

i now just use the oly xz1 and am quite happy with the size cept the low light/ no flash capabilities...

having said that, the dslr will always have its place that can never be dethroned simply by its capabilities.
its just having the correct tool for the job...

these are my thoughts/opinion and mine alone.
