hi guys,

How much longer to wait for a sony camera like RX100 to drop price like minus RM500 or more?

Is it possible to be happened in next 6 months?!

I not sure whether Sony Camera will only drop price when it is replace by its own new generation or another stronger competitors out there?!

I am thinking of in replacing my old bro, panasonic LX3. Just over Rm2k for a camera is kind of turning me off at the moment. The moment i saw it in sony shop with its price tag i stop explored bout it. Truly i was in love with its pocket-able size.

Didn't know this little wonder is surprisingly outstanding after watching a few youtube videos reviews since yesterday.

Decision need to make within this two weeks.

Just bought mine.

After i look at the LX7 'increment' size in real. It's turned me off instantly even though it got this awesome F1.4 good for low-lighting.
Couldn't careless for whatever convincing debate about LX7 pawns RX100 in any aspect anymore.

One thing is majority reviews stressing about 'pocketable' for RX100. I thought Rx100 could fit my jeans's pocket perfectly.
Yes it can fit but uncomfortable to walk....haha. So, it is cool to fit for others pants material. Just not for 'slim-fit' or even 'skinny-fit' jeans.

So much things to explore in this little wonder. Many settings and features i didn't see in LX3. I am so left behind by camera fancy features~...

I met two promoters very generous in explaining and demo about this Rx100 in Fotokem and Sony Style, LYP.

The best deal i could found is inside Sg wang, Ground Floor. The camera shop got two chinese uncles, selling 2155(if no mistaken). For installement is RM2257.

Well, he selling LX7 at Rm1450!

FYI, only Sony Style will *Free* leather casing which cost Rm199.

Idoblue...woo!.. nice to hear you get a good price with this awesome little wonder with installment charges still.

Yeah, my friend bought a fujifilm camera over Rm3k one.. He said he negotiated until no need to pay any charges. 3 shops i went yesterday need to pay charges.

From my past experience, most shops in Sg wang or LYP will charging for any installment plan, right?!

I paid for the warranty since it is not too much.. Rm110 for extra 2 years. Total is 3 years. Included the Oversea Warranty for 1 year.
We can get extra 3 months warranty if register within 7 days.

I always bought warranty for my electronic stuff. If Sony Rx100 is not made in Japan, I might reconsider seriously especially with this price tag. The two Panasonic camera i used was Made in Japan. Never failed on my expectation for years. This is my personal opinion.

In fact, I not sure i will going to use the leather casing after a while. Haha.. It is looking so lovely to snug into a pocket. Even greater feeling than the LX3 which was a compact 'high-end' camera that impressed me last time. But it couldn't keep inside my pocket comfortable.

I tested some random music inside my room.. It's far more better than my old LX3 which is mono and weak voice. Always have to pump up volume in video editing program.
LX3 sometimes sound will be 'exploded' if too strong volume.

256kbps, 48Hz for AVCHD.
128kbps, 48Hz for Mp4.
Both file format in Stereo.

I need to find a way to edit video and retain the 60fps. FCPX couldn't import the MTS. If convert into QT, it will auto-convert into 25fps with ClipWrap.

So far, i am thinking have to switch back to Windows in Sony Vegas to get the job done.

p/s: I love the low light too...

During IA mode, why we have to apply 'Color Effects' mode with 'Down arrow' from small ring button?
FN button could shows the 'Color Effects' mode but unable to apply it from there.

Today i tested to record video around 29mins. The highest quality setting.
The LCD will getting 'burned' mark slowly...especially on the right side on LCD.

After 4 to 5 hours, i wanted to test for night city lights. I turned on the camera to get ready. Found out strange condition on the LCD. White contour lines on every subjects on the screen.

I checked on every modes and ISO, Exposure levels. Still can't remove the expose white.

eg. Wall edges with white 'crayon' contour lines. Floor tiling edges too. Door Frames. Almost every edges.

When aiming on city lights, they were exposed white. I first thought it was the LCD issues. And i switched to movie mode. It got 'vertical burned lines' on the LCD. It happened on the video as well when i checked on PC. But the city lights are fine like real scenes.
Attached Image

I did a Reset for everything. Lucky everything back to normal.
No more Expose white or burned marks on LCD or video recording.

Seriously this camera get overheat rapidly started after 4mins to 5mins. This never happend on my LX3 for movie shooting.

For photo shooting, no overheat issue encounter so far.

Get the extended warranty if intended to treat this as a video camera very often.

Else....hehe....you get what i mean.
Hopefully a firmware update can solve this overheating issues.

Is your unit can set video to 60p?

Mine is only 50p for max. Didn't realize about this.

How about the others guys which bought RX100 from local market?!

During my trip, i decided i wanted to buy a small cloth pouch. Easily take out from pocket and snap pictures. The cover of the lens is a hinder to me. I am using the Sony Camera Case for RX100.

It's fine to use it when keep inside the bag. I will spent money to buy lens instead but the leather case.

Sniper,

Can i know what is your shooting setting?

I set HDR 3.. Sometimes got 'Ghosting effects + Broken pictures'

You shoot all pictures in RAW, right? Yours pictures looks very clean and dynamic! Almost no noise detected..

Thanks.

Sniper.

Ok.. i will check your photo description in Flikr for more good secret!
I still haven't make good use of the Memory Recall.

Do you guys using this features heavily? I found myself have to manually adjust setting to shoot most of my pictures. So, 3 settings seems not 'enough'...haa...

The camera tripod use on the coca cola bottle is interesting.
Any special about it? How much the price of it?

Calvin,

What is that camera looks like thing on your tripod function as?

I did used this kind of flexible tripod borrow from my brother. I haven't own any tripod for my camera. It's very useful if i am going to stay at one spot much longer.

Get ur item from BH photo.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/8846...on_Battery.html

then join the bulk here BH Photo LYN Bulk, see if any1 organise bulk anot.
mind you the battery is a taxable item. but after tax is like rm35 per battery (included postage).
Net amount might be varies depends on the shared postage fee.

about the battery performance, as good as the original  smile.gif

advice you to browse  through BH photo site since postage fee is shared. many things u can get there and alot cheaper brows.gif
poisonous bro, dun join the bulk too much laugh.gif

Rm35 for a good battery quality is a steal for me already. It is rm100 plus to buy from Sony if not mistaken.

The rm80 charger is also from this site?!

Thanks for sharing the bulk thread.
The whole LYN is a poisonous place. haha..
It's a must visit forum for me almost everyday.

Thanks man... So many good stuffs in the BH store. Seems like even better for Ebay to me.

Currently i am still using portable mobile charger to charge the camera on the run. Another extra battery could save down the hassle in calculation for taking shots and videos duration.

No touch screen on the new RX100 MKII?

Was hopefully a touch screen features with it instead of any other features from the predecessor.
