Most of the med schools in uk are moving to or having the same fees for pre clinical and clinical years. Maybe to even out the gap jump in the fees from pre clinical to clinical and fixing the fees for the whole duration.

only those with a significant clinical component in the pre-clinical can justifiably do this....

if they do, it will not be to even out the fees, but the squeeze more from international students....they have increased the preclinical fees, but have not reduce the clinical fees...

Internship update from Western Australia:

As of today, at least 70-80% of internationals from UWA have received internship offers. I myself have just gotten one just hours ago ^^ Things are looking decent here; there might be opportunities for interstate internationals at this rate.

Most states including NSW and Queensland are halfway through their offers for internationals. Not sure about Victoria. As far as the crisis is concerned, SA seems to be bearing the brunt of things because of the funding cut by the glorious Tony Abbott. To date, no international from SA has received an internship offer.

Edit: 28/29 who applied have gotten offers.

congrats. Seems like WA is taking care of their people well! NONE of locals and internationals from tassie received offers from WA.

Still no news for me. What a sad sad place I live in oh well. Finals next saturday. yikes.

When is the OSCE exam for UWA?

I'm sure you'll get a spot. If not, there's the Commonwealth Medical Internship thing that opens in Oct. Up to 100 spots for internationals!

We've done our final OSCEs in 5th year. All 16 stations of pure horror. 6th year is mostly gaining experience in the core internship rotations eg gen med, surg, ED. The assessments are spaced out throughout the rotation. Tbh they could easily shorten the course to 5 instead of 6 years haha but I suppose that makes it difficult to squeeze extra money from us.

UTAS is 5 years right?

uwa has make it 7 years now, to squeeze even more money.....3 years undergraduate, and 4 years med school.... lol

yup 5 years =) I understand. They can give us anything under the roof for our OSCEs. Which is making our revision hard. Oh well. Should be alright I hope.

John Hopkins opt out of Pugsom due to breach of financial obligation. Payment has not been made for the past 12 months.
Once again students' dreams had turned to nightmare.

maybe she's waiting for you to specify p or c-anca well, it's better than interns not knowing how to manage exacerbation of COPD in msia =/ that was shocking. At least you don't see ANCAs tested that often

I've experienced some horror stories too. A GP tried to give my dad NSAIDs for upper GI pain.

how do you know it is upper gi pain?....

nsaids is not an absolute contraindication even if the symptom is from the upper gi.....

i know students do tend to think in terms of black and white, but the real world is often in shades of gray...

there goes taxpayer's money.
