That could happen to any brand.

I'm actually impressed.. if that was on asus laptop, he probably get a refund in 2014 after countless of rage call to their SC.  ph34r.gif

Yes. I agree it could happen to any brand. Just that Im so bad luck having a bad copy that time.

We cannot denied Dell service is good. On site service is very convenience without charges. But I decide to let go coz im losing confidence to my unit.

Disappointed with new unit with so much problems. Within 3 months. It already change so many parts.

Anyway. I bought y580 with cheaper price and higher spect. But not 1T hdd. Im happy with it now.

Hi all,
Just received my new 14R SE today. Really happy about it rclxm9.gif . However, there is no win7/software CD included in the package, except 1 driver CD only. sweat.gif Kind of worry should anything happen to the computer and might have difficulties to restore back the original system.

So, appreciate if any sifu here can share the experience on what is the best backup plan or should I ask Dell to provide the relevant CDs. Thanks for reading. thumbup.gif

Got the 14r SE yesterday, and changed the HDD to a 128GB SSD. No issues except that BF3 seems to crash randomly. But I think it might be due to the GT640M overheating (using HWMonitor it reached up to 90 celcius). I wonder if it's driver issue

apparently it's just a driver problem. Reverted the driver to an earlier beta and it ran without a hitch now lol

That sounds, weird.

Maybe your lappy was in sleeping/hibernation mode?

Try hard reboot your computer by pressing the power button for 5-10sec.

I'm using 15RSE. No power up issues.

I already send my laptop to dell service centre.. they say my motherboard got a problem.. they will change it & i can get it back tomorrow. 1 thing that troubles me, why they ask the colour of on button in my laptop?

Hey, im planning to buy a 14r se from digital mall this friday, any idea which shop i should go to? Not buying online as I dont have a credit card/need it rather urgently. Also, would i be getting it for 2799 or is that an online only price?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

I would suggest you to buy from the Dell website though.

1. Most of the units do not come with backlit keyboard.
2. The models sold online all come with backlit keyboard. (Used to be optional, but Dell changed it.)

The 14rSE i5 spec was priced around RM 2,150 when I surveyed at lowyat, could have been cheaper if I haggle for it, but still, no backlit.
Not that the backlit keyboard is important, just to let you know that there are better options.

On the other hand, the Y480 from lenovo packs an even more monstrous spec, and is also priced cheaper than the 14rSE as well. (comes with backlit =D)

Dell has good reputation for its customer service.
As for Lenovo, though may not be the best, but I do not hear much complaints either.

The chance is, you are unlikely to get a faulty laptop, big companies do have good quality control(I believe).

But mate, choice's yours. I am merely giving you my 2 cents worth =)

guys, 15r se or 14r se?currently ordered the 14z, but i was quite worried for its unremovable batt and lack of usb port. plus with the 14z i3 price, i could get an i5 15r SE! one extra thing i can see with 14z is that it has ssd, and its thin. but 15/14r se both has backlit keyboard. im torn in between. enlighten me brotha!
