mate, we have never win the premier league.  our last league title is 1989/90 season.  Premier League starts 1992.  we won a lot of Division 1, back in those days.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my bad.  KD won PL with blackburn.  i dun associate KD with blackburn.  thanks Cloud.

bro, when i said I've given up trying to explain, its not meant as in `i find no point in arguing with you'. My point was that no matter what, FSG have already sacked Kenny and they've already given their explanations. They are finally showing their true colors. As a fan, I can only hope that the future is golden and bright and they know what they're doing.

QUOTE(twtang @ May 18 2012, 10:57 PM)
Whelan confirmed on Thursday that he has granted Martinez permission to speak with Liverpool, who are seeking a successor to sacked manager Kenny Dalglish.

The Reds' shortlist for a new boss is said to be extensive - as many as ten names in the frame - and among those targets was Swansea City coach Brendan Rodgers.

But Rodgers has rebuffed Liverpool's advances as he is settled at the Liberty Stadium, and Whelan feels the Ulsterman's actions should serve as a warning to Martinez.

He told ESPN: "When Liverpool asked for Wigan's permission to speak to Roberto, it was willingly given, and you would have thought they wanted him for the job. But now it transpires they are looking at quite a few possibilities.

"The fact that Brendan Rodgers has opted out after they approached Swansea should get Roberto thinking he might be better off at Wigan. There is a suspicion that Liverpool don't know what they are doing, certainly it is clear now they don't know who they want as manager."

Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre, though, is confident that the club can still attract the profile of manager they are aiming for, despite the lack of Champions League football once more next season.

"We will find out (the effect of not being in the Champions League) during the process I guess. The reason I don't think it will have an effect is if you lined up most managers in football and asked them if Liverpool would be a great club to manage and most people would aspire to do so I think they would say yes," Ayre said.

"The history of this club, the reach of this club around the world , its fanbase and everything we have achieved and want to achieve is more than enough to keep any manager we would want to go after hungry for the opportunity.''
I also suspect the owner don't know what they are doing. They thought baseball and soccer are game, one use hand and one use foot leh!!
*
Maybe its a lesson of reality for Ayre. Rodgers have decided not to even speak to Liverpool and Martinez's uncle chairman is having a field day sharing his comments to the press about the Liverpool manager's position as a joke.

So much for believing that the club can still attract the managers.....

I hope he was being realistic when he was assessing Kenny's performances in Boston couple of days ago.

I don't think Brendan Rogers rejecting Liverpool is embarassing.

Maybe he just wants to continue building what he has started at Swansea or maybe he thinks moving to Liverpool is a big step forward for him which he isn't ready.

Or .. everyone is just not into the sacking manager if you don't finish top 4!

Lets wait further. To be fair, they saved us from G and H. They deserve more time before we can say they've made disastrous decisions.

They either have a brilliant plan in place (which is working and on track) in terms of restructuring and hiring the new management OR...as Dave Whelan said...`they don't know what they're doing'.

Apparently LFC twitter asked a question who fans wanted as new manager.

Got bombarded for it and they took it down and said people misunderstood.

Its a populist move.

Jen Chang is a liverpool.fc-oriented PR guy, so could be him running the show from 8 days ago

Was a stupid decision to put that seeing they have like 900k followers or something. And kinda disrespectful to the man who just left.

Its very obvious that LFC.TV is on "damage control" mode.

Look at the way how they managed the fall out.

They're trying to gather as many people into the "I support you FSG" bandwagon.

Whelan only talks to persuade Martinez to stay in Wigan. We're much closer to CL than Wigan. Of course there are pressure to achieve the club's target, but does Mancini not facing pressure when he fails to deliver? Do you still think he's the same clown who didn't have the support from the likes of Tevez, Balotelli, and Robinho? He's now known as the person who beat SAF and United.

If they decided not to take the job, it's good for them and good for Liverpool FC. King Kenny has guts to take the hot seat, they aren't even half of the King.

Regardless of what happens.LFC staff should steer clear of the manager stuff on the official website and twitter.

Posting rumours as headlines doesn't help at all.Try to keep news as little as possible so that the crap media don't use it on us.

Well it's end of the season and the Euros hasn't started, this is the time journalists start picking things out of their arses, new manager or not. biggrin.gif

One thing though, when FSG took over they pretty much insist on doing business behind close doors. However the list of our managerial candidates seem to be leaking everywhere. I do hope that all these are just smokescreen when the actual fact is John Henry has already made a secret phone call to Rafa and said to him, "Screw all that, come back finish your unfinished business,"

Oh well.

Personally, I'm pretty much immune to what the media says these days. After the Suarez-Evra fiasco anyway...

Can we not taking Rafa back? I dont wanna see the back of rafa like we did to KD... Cant bare looking at how some of us calling for KD's head and to some extend, some did it in a disrespectful way (some, not all that call for kd's head)

I would rather us get Gus Poyet instead of Rafa for this very reason. tongue.gif

At least he's stubborn and has a nerve of steel to handle the pressure from the owners. laugh.gif

Anyway I was thinking about it yesterday, half of our first teamers - Lucas, Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson - are actually his signings. Throw in Maxi, Kuyt, Shelvey, Bellamy and you have half a team that fits his criteria. Perhaps if we bring him in, the rebuilding won't be as extensive as we initially thought required? I'm sure by sitting in front of the telly for the past few months, surely he would have already drafted a new blueprint and plan for Liverpool?

I mean, it's quite disappointing that none of these newer rumours actually contain Rafa's name. Sure he might not be the suitable manager and FSG may find others who are better in line with their own vision. But really, they have nothing to lose by bringing him in and hearing his plans & demands.

Gus Poyet? Are we building a mini Uruguayan team now? tongue.gif
