Sony has a lot of catch up to do to be par with Panasonic GH5

IMO, A7sII vs GH5, the debate will never end. Coming out newer body that might exceed the GH5, but the price arguments will rise.

Finally, have enough moolah to ditch my HDV and buy a new set of mirrorless for my video work. I’m thinking of getting A6500 with 18-105mm as my run and gun and A7R3 (or A7S2) and 16-35mm F4 for my B-roll. My work relatively is on event & journo types so the video mostly short per take but frequent. Meaning for single event coverage I usually take 100 plus shots. My question is can A6500 take the abuse of start and stop like proper video camera do daily.

As for my B-roll camera, it is mainly for low light situation as most of product launching are on very dim. Great for spectacular gimmick but very bad for video coverage. Does A7R3 has adequate capabilities for low light or must I go for the the king of low light. The final edit will not be shown on any big screen anyway and being an event/news video, the news supersedes the video so some imperfection is acceptable.

Hi bro, what i'd say regarding the sony A6500 is overheating issue (also some other sony). It may happen to your unit, and it may not happen at all. But whatever it is, i'd recommend you to use, dummy NP-FW50 battery + powerbank. It might reduce heat produce by the battery if it is inside the body.

A6500 will take the abuse like notmal camera. Should be no worry.

Great video. How long does your A6000 last battery wise? and how many batteries do you carry? I am considering an a6xxx too for vlogs : )

Thanks! I brought total 4 batteries lol, but only used 1 or 2 each day depending on my activities. If you wan to vlog using a6xxx make sure you get the 10-18mm wide lense, because 6xxx doesn't have a flip screen, you can't check if you're in the frame so you wanna make sure your lens is wide enough to cover large area.

And a6000 doesn't have a audio jack too so it has limited external microphone choices, i suggest you go with 6300 or later which have built in audio jack if money is not an issue tongue.gif

I'm actually a tailor, but a couple months ago I found myself in the position of having to produce a TVC to be aired on Bernama News Channel Astro 502.

I shot everything myself except the frame where I appear. That was shot by my assistant.

A mix of Sony RX10 and A6300 on Konova sliders, Konova Master Parallex Pan (lousy product by the way, not recommended), and a carbon fiber jib crane. Had to sneak in a shot from the Canon EOS M --- it was clear the footage is much inferior to any of the Sonys.

The editing was done by the same guy who edited Polis Evo and Tombiruo starring Zul Ariffin and Farid Kamil.

I'm gearing up for another shoot next month involving two models and two locations.

Anyone knows which Lens Collar support that can handle a lens diameter of 70mm? Picture below for reference.

But i prefer your first video. It looks like there is a story behind it. People loves story and story is KING.

Took this two months ago in genting. I only have Nikon cameras lying around. Can anybody enlighten me what I can do for better AF?

OR do I really need to jumpship? The AF is killing me sometimes sad.gif

Great video @DS_Legacy

There are so many factors if you are expecting the system for the AF techonlogy to be perfect.

As videographer, we can't expect the AF to be very accurate even though you jump ship or upgrade to higher spec.

So Manual Focus and your eye/finger is the way to go.

but no harm you can check with other brand to suit the AF focus which you are after.

Many thanks. I got so tempted when I see canon dual pixels focusing system. Most of the time I just rely on my eyes and finger on my nikon system. But it can be frustrating sometimes.

Thanks for the advice and maybe I should just stick with my system for now. Perhaps I should practice more on manual focus when I'm free laugh.gif
