Just sharing some of my favourite and recommended film equipment rental contacts for those who might be interested.

AFE (Asia Film Equipment) +6012 3730702 Yuen
More up to date electronics like Movi , Ronin and Red Dragon 5k , Pegasus crane. Pretty much everything.

MotionEye +6013 3323721 Ah Keong
Drone rental and technician for DJI S900 and Ronin

TRH (The Rental House) +6019 2224950 Ah.Pew  |  +6012 2768016 Ah.Foo
Cheap , tons of equipment ,  well maintained , offers best grips and gaffers I have met so far.  Ask for Ah.Foo's team if you need gaffers

I havent used CineRent yet , I have heard their rentals are really expensive.

And If you need a KL based cameraman / camera assistant (AC) can contact me through PM. hehe

Hi, i'm a very very budget student (lol) and new to videography. Am very interested in producing video, been reading up some cinematography books lately.

anyone know any offer for slider? or some DIY like what lpyycy mentioned?

my gears are Nikon D90. I tested the video function, the exposure they set auto I guess. Don't have manual override. Which is a sad case.
*
There is someone here in the garage sales, selling a 4 feet slider for RM550. Quite a good deal. Its used.
If your good at using power tools, then you may proceed with DIY. but it will be hard. I've tried it twice.

About D90, IMO its auto exposure, same like 500D i guess.

QUOTE(jloi @ May 10 2012, 04:22 PM)
in my case i think i need external mic..or maybe recorder. Any recommendation?
*
External microphone, if your budget is not a problem, get the RODE Mic / Rode mic Pro / Zoom H1 or H4N.
There is also a cheap external mic selling in garage sales that come with a hotshoe mount.

The cheapest and good external mic at the moment would be the Zoom H1.

I'm planning to get the Zoom H2n which is few 100s more but still quite affordable.
*
Give a Rode a try too. Maybe u will love it.

By the way, added another 60D with manfrotto fluid head 701HD for my slider.

@Goldfries, nice & creative video you make there. It give me some rough ideas too. smile.gif

Talking about external mics, yes the zoom is also good. For a start, invest on zoom H1. Costs less than RM400 and Zoom H4N costs more than 1k i think.

Nice. Any more vids bro? Wondering the type of vids you're doing other than the skate park vid.

Added on May 14, 2012, 7:03 amSay guys, what video editor softwares you are using? Before I just use the Windows Live Movie Maker bundled in my Windows 7. But it doesnt have the color correction etc. I dont really need any special effects for now. Just want to smoothen and beautify the videos that I captured.
*
I've taken a few,but i don't know how to post videos from youtube here in the thread.
By the way, i am using the Sony Vegas Pro 10. It's editing is simple, but yet superb in effects.

I mainly covers wedding, and sometimes into ads or montage.

The wonders of stabilizers eh ocz. I saw ppl charging alot for their "shaky" wedding videos. A sad sad truth.
*
I did not use any stabilizers as i can't handle it more than 5 minutes. Its damn heavy. LOL. by the way, most of my shots are using 4ft sliders and monopod.

My mistake, should use the word "support". Hehe. I saw a shaky vid of akad from a local videographer. Very unprofessional.

One question though, all of your vids seemed to be dark, is that your style?
*
LOL. Shaky with styles,is a bit acceptable, but shaky without styles,is totally unacceptable. most of the video i've seen, from amateur photographer are using tripod, instead of monopod.
Some of the videos are originally dark, some are edited to dark.

Why would you buy that small stabilizers when you can buy Glidecam 2000? The price is almost the same.

hi, should I get a camcorder, DSLR, or prosumer digital camera for video recording? seem that now all starter DSLR come with full HD recording with low price than camcorder, seeking for some advise here TQ!
*
IMO,you should get the HD DSLR. Camera / Video all in one. Advantage is that you can full manual your setting for some DSLR.
