You can avoid all this hassle by "CONTROL" of the situation. Be realistic to yourself and not to the recruiter. I had seen tones of incompetent and unproductive Human Resource that causing candidate hassle although they are MNC company. Wasting your time and expenses, how about your annual leave if you have one!

P/S: Think like a recruiter or employer if you want to be the "Winning Candidate".
P/S/S: Control the Interviewing game by asking what the intention of the interview of the day, dont just be a follow goat.

Best of all.

very true indeed, its nice for you to mention it nod.gif .

Nvm, now that i had learn my lesson, cause this was my first experience encountered to be called back for the third time. It was my mistake for not asking about the purpose to go back again.

I wouldnt mind even if you call me back a thousand time but show at least some appreciation to me, don't just call me back for a 15 minutes session and ask me come again next time. wtf? mad.gif if petrol and toll price can claim i dont mind la. whistling.gif

Hi everyone! I need advice...
I will have an interview at this company, in Penang soon.
Meaning I have to fly from Sabah to Penang for this interview.

Should I go for the interview?
Do you think I have the higher chance to get the job?
Since they insisted on calling me for an interview. Plus I'm across the pond.
I know I have to give the best impression to make the interview a successful one, so the flight tickets wont go into waste.

Help! T_T

receptionist: Im very sorry, must've been a mistake.
me: what? are u kidding me? i fly ALL THE WAY HERE!

Here's a sample for you to refer. Please note that when you send a thank-you email, keep it short and direct to the point. Do also include in your interest of the position because this is your last chances to sell the employer that you are the perfect person for the job. I encourage you to send it within 24 hours after interview.

---------------------------------

Hi (name of interviewer),

Good morning!

I would like to thank you for the time spent to discuss possible opportunity between myself and (the company name) yesterday. I found that the position is ideally suited to my background and interests. If given the chance, I assure you that I will give you my best effort in making this an effective position within your company.

I am eager to bring my previous experiences and passion to your company. I am convinced the knowledge, skills, and experience I've already achieved make me the best candidate for the job. Again, I appreciate your time for the job interview, and I look forward to be a part of your company in the near future.

Thanks and Regards,

(Your name)
(Your contact number)
(Your email)

---------------------------------

**Remember to address the thank-you email with the correct spelling and title of the interviewer, as well as the proper spelling of the organization.

Dear Mamet,

Remember, what you wear will reflect yourself and how people see you - in this case, the interviewer. In terms of interview attire - my advice for male candidates usually:

*pants - solid dark color - black, navy or dark grey (so, it is ok to wear grey, as long as it has dark tone)
*long sleeve shirt  - white (try lines instead of plain shirt) or coordinated with the pants
*belt - if you wear dark grey pants and white shirt, belt must be solid black or dark brown
*shoe - coordinate with belt

Picture for your reference:

GOOD LUCK for your interview!

Is the company reliable? Cause if its a MNC than u shouldnt be worrying too much about it.

If they request you to fly over, u must say that its quite inconvinient for you to travel through and flow and hoping that the interview session is not only with the HR ppl, but also with the project manager that you are gonna work with. Basically covering stage 1 and stage 2 of the interview process.

Added on February 12, 2010, 11:06 pmi just wanna ask, will the company inform you that you've been rejected for the job after attending the interview? hmm.gif

If you're afraid of the above situation then it's best to double confirm the interview date, time and venue with the interviewer. You can call/ e-mail.

Thing is, if you're imagining too much - you might not be able to do your best due to clouded 'thinking' because you're having so much doubt and worries. Calm down and make sure all your flight details are confirmed.

Depends. Generally fresh graduates (degree) are employed for about RM1.6k - RM2.2k.

Disclaimer: It's just an estimated rough figure and I could be wrong.

I've applied for a part time job in another company. If I have a name card (from the current company that I'm working), do I give it to the interviewer before or after the interview?

Hmmm preferably you give it at the start of the interview? Name card is like an identity so you can use it for self-introduction smile.gif

Name card, if a fresh graduate were to present a name card, that doesn't make sense isn't it ,unless he's a previous employee of any company whistling.gif

Is it possible to answer "i don't know" if i really can't answer the interviewer question. If not possible, how should I handle this situation? rclxub.gif

Before this i attended the job interview workshop and around 4 or 5 speakers that day, some of them said possible to say "I don't know" if you really can't answer the interviewer Q's in a proper manner... rclxub.gif

"i don't know" is not a crime, the best thing to do is
"i do not know the answer offhand, but [insert efforts to find out]"

Does efforts mean like we try to give an opinion based on our understanding from the Q? icon_question.gif

Unemployed for 3 mths already. Have been applying for a lots of job, didnt get it n not even a single call from the HR asking me to go for an interview.

Kinda weird coz I have 1 year working experience and just finish my postgraduate. Maybe I need to lower my expected salary (but I already stated can nego there) or maybe try to apply from a small2 company. or maybe because of the financial crisis??
*
Did you try applying from newspaper classifieds? You would have a better chance of callups.

Doesn't that obviously mean that he's not a fresh grad or has a part time job somewhere?

Not exactly. I hardly discuss the expected salary with the interviewer on 1st round interview. In my case, I would wait till the interviewer initiate the discussion about it first.

Sometimes they did not talk about it because they felt the expected salary is justifiable or it could be - they are interested in getting to know you rather than the pay which is could be negotiable (depending on individuals).

Vary case by case & individual. There are also people who would demand to talk about pay first before getting into the details.

siberfriend>> well we're not you nor the interviewer, so can't tell whether you stand a chance or not. Processing the documents take time and there may be several other potential candidates that they have yet to interview after you. Give and take another week. Or, you can always drop them another mail to check the status of your application.
