have anyone met any interviewers who are really sucks big time?
*
Hehe I personally kena many terrible interviewers ... some too soft, mostly very very lcly (cos usually i interview with CFO/FC/Finance ppl)

Generally I feel the HR ppl will be more professional, its the Hiring Managers that lack the ... style I look for in a boss, I don't go for gangster type, i prefer those who can accept my input with open mind ...

thanks for your opinion..

but actually what im asking is.. is it proper to ask bout the salary during the phone calls @ invitation for interview.. means not in interview session yet.. u know when the place is too far from your living place.. (travel + staying there etc).. and comes out with underpaid one.. so its not worth it.. worse if you didnt even choosen for the job.. so what do u think?
*
If distance is far, of course you need to find out the range beforehand, for your own benefit. Although it may not sound nice to the caller, you can state that you are very far away, and would like to know the salary for you to "manage the expectations" from this job. No point travel so far to be offered peanuts unless you are very hard up to work there.

But if its within your locality, its not so nice to ask sal.range during first call.

I should tell the interviewer directly of the reason or I should tell the other way round?
*
If the current job and new job are the same then it would not be so good, but generally you can tell them what you are looking for. After all, the objective is not to just score a job, but one where you can perform well in.

why you still accepting the offer at the first place?
*
"because at the time of interview the job description given to me was not in line with actual functions i needed to perform"

then tell the current interviewer what you do best and how you can contribute to his company.

No, it's fine to answer "Yes" that you applied for other companies.
*
Always a two edged sword. If you end up with a pariah interviewer, they gonna put you secondary.
However, if you are already not too savvy to the job, ask them back
"Are you interviewing other candidates???"

QUOTE(Jenn77 @ Nov 4 2009, 02:19 PM)
Is it normal to have tests for one and a half hour follows by 30mins- 1 hour interview? Would this look extreme to you?
*
Yes, some companies require you to take psychometric/personality tests before or after an interview, but I feel it a little unfair that it happens before, cos you are tired after doing the test and need to perk up for the face to face.

if u wear, u wear. take off for wat.

are u gonna stop wearing if u join this new job? if yes then attend the interbiu.

if not, just go as urself since its an expression of who u r and u need to express that.

Unemployed for 3 mths already. Have been applying for a lots of job, didnt get it n not even a single call from the HR asking me to go for an interview.

Kinda weird coz I have 1 year working experience and just finish my postgraduate. Maybe I need to lower my expected salary (but I already stated can nego there) or maybe try to apply from a small2 company. or maybe because of the financial crisis??
*
mainly recruiters will look at ur expected salary vs year of exp

very easy to filter u out at a glance.

Is it possible to answer "i don't know" if i really can't answer the interviewer question. If not possible, how should I handle this situation? rclxub.gif

Before this i attended the job interview workshop and around 4 or 5 speakers that day, some of them said possible to say "I don't know" if you really can't answer the interviewer Q's in a proper manner... rclxub.gif
*
"i don't know" is not a crime, the best thing to do is
"i do not know the answer offhand, but [insert efforts to find out]"

if u made mistakes and got fired, its tough luck. i would come clean and see how it goes.
tell them i have erred, paid a high price, and make sure to prevent mistake in future.

can we call them after few day of interview n say we would like to know the result of previous interview..?
*
sure u can and most likely if they bother to reply:

"we are in the process of screening and shorlisting the candidates. if u are success we will call u"

are u answering to my question?? u mean, i should ask rm3000 when they ask me about expected salary?
*
ur case i think realistic range would be 2.2 - 2.5K, but can go higher, if u wanna push it.
