was looking around for dryer

final choices is between electrolux edc2086pdw 8kg or EDH3497RDW 9kg

price difference (before extended warranty) is RM1300 apart. but the 9kg energy consumption is almost 3 times less as what 8kg uses.

8kg - rm3k
9kg - rm4.xk

i've read reviews, but most of it is from australia, which says it doesnt dry their clothes enough. i'm not sure but it seems to me like only people from aussie complain about this.

and now since i read through the thread, i'm very incline into getting the 9kg one.

what does the sifu says?

I’m deciding between Electrolux and Beko. Bosch brand seems good but very expensive

Which brand r u using?
*
Electrolux EWF1497HDW washer, EDH3497RDW dryer.

Screw Electrolux, mine dryer rosak just past 2 yrs. Try looking at Panasonic. It has heat pump dryer as well. That was my consideration as well back then.

If you still want to go for Electrolux, buy the mounting kit (wth tray) from their warehouse. Write in to their customer care. Outside shops don't sell that kit and they will say only Bosch one comes with the tray mounting kit. Will set you back for RM365.70 inclusive gst.

But the washing time is longer isn’t? Do I still need to use laundry bag for delicate clothes if I use front load washer? Is it gentle enough and won’t destroy most of the clothes?

Also, may I kno what other brand of detergent is suitable for front load other than persil?
*
Cotton Eco can goes up to 4hrs, but does it really matter? If you need to shorten the washing time, just reduce the time using the buttons. Otherwise, use quick wash.

I can vouch for this washer. Put dirty blackened cloth inside, came out all clean. rclxms.gif

Washing detergent, can go with Daia, green bottle only. Low sud type. Smell very good. If use other types, out less to reduce bubble/foam.

Mine is the 9kg one, spoiled a few months after 2yrs warranty over. Your call.

Dryness, I'm satisfied with it. If you go with cotton program, it's very dry and very hot too. But would you risk your fabric? Mildly damped is ok, if you iron it immediately or hang them. Alternatively, I mostly use synthetic (can get very dry, shorter cycle than cotton) and delicate (not very dry) mode.

I don't use cotton for my bed sheets, cause my bed sheets are expensive and don't want to spoil them. Besides, bed sheet washing instructions stated there, don't tumble dry. rclxs0.gif

Hello, any update on the washer dryer?
*
Used few loads di..So far the clothes is clean but longer time. However, it is not dry well...Might be overload but I just dump in bout 4 to 5kg of cloths in...mix wash and let it auto detect..Still not dry and a wet..So, I just run another cycle of drying manually...sad.gif ..Need few more days to do trial and error first sweat.gif

The downside of front load is I need to bend my body or squat to load the clothes to the washer which i don't like. Also the rubber of the front load washer is hard to clean from what i know.

Anyone can share your experience?

Thank you.
*
You don't have to bend. If you're renovating, you can ask a contractor to build a concrete platform for your front loader so that you will never hv to bend down ever.

As for the mouldy rubber, prevention is the best cure. Once or twice a year when you clean the internal filter, give the rubber part a good wipe down.Attached Image

Yup, that particular model. I think there's only 1 model for Electrolux heat-pump 9kg.

Bed sheet in dryer, might shrink. I guess if reduced heat would reduce the damage. I have no place to hang dry, so must use dryer. Never washed my comforter before. sweat.gif

Bro, for the longevity of the appliance, install a window mounted extractor fan and turn it on whilst washing and off it after an hour or two. This is a bathroom and it's enclosed. Humidity kills appliances.

The window is right above the washing machine and it's always open. The folding door is always open. We're on the 17th floor at the top of a hill, so the wind blows straight through to create plenty of ventilation.

This bathroom is seldom used, which is why I placed the machine there - the shower is for guest emergencies only and therefore has never been used. Sometimes guests would come in to take a pee and wash their hands, and that's just about it.

So 98% of the time, this bathroom is dry. The mirror has never steamed up.

Most of the time I wash using cold water. Once in a while I'd use the dryer function if there's a sufficient load of towels & jeans.

Ah, that's good. Very optimal esp toilet location and washer dryer placement. Not many homes have that. I'd to say I'm already green with envy 😆 about your green ventilation solution.

It's fibre silk quilt, no idea if I could just wash it. Maybe hang under hot sun some day.

Good suggestion. But if I want to stack up my dryer would be hard isn’t? Is it okay to put washer horizontally?

If you have the space and your house layout allows it, build a concrete platform and put both front loader & dryer side by side. Never need tp bend down ever again.

But be mindful of the ventilation, as Halcyon pointed out. Don't cram them in some stuffy corner. You also need to ensure the wiring in the wall can take the electrical load of both machines.

What so difficult to bend down ? It is not like take effort to bend and load into the WM.

Even you use top loader, you still have to bend down and take the cloth from the basket and load into the WM ontop.

Unless for old people ?

Is it everyday do the laundry ?
