I try to find the option in advance mode. but can't find it anywhere. no luck with google either hmm.gif

Anyway, another question. In overclocking memory, better with tight timing or higher frequency?

Glad that you've found the culprit. 1.89v is indeed way too high for normal OC. Default: 1.8v

Welcome to the club.  thumbup.gif
Not sure for latest Giga boards but on old platform you could go into your BIOS, press [CTRL] + [F1],
then disable spread spectrum (Spread spectrum was hidden)

Speed is generally more important than timings. But depends on IC and test, for instance PSC 2500 8-11-8 beats samsung 2666 9-12-12 in SPi benchmark. Dont worry about vdimm, lots of people whack their RAMs up to 1.92v on air without dying. Most performance RAMs out there are rated at 1.65v & can take more volts for OC. FYI Intel specs is roughly 1.5v only. But who cares about their limit when it comes to OC. biggrin.gif

Thanks. Later will post my RAM oc. Still learning sweat.gif

Added on August 15, 2012, 10:00 amneed help oc'ing my ram (see my sig). I tried running it at 2133 with timing 12-12-12-28-1T vdimm 1.65V. Ran 8 inst of memtest for more than 6 hours without error. but when i ran linpack, it stopped after 3min or so, saying error found. so, is the ram setting stable or not?

Revert to default RAM setting will pass linpack? Just try to sort out whether your CPU OC is confirmed successful. Linpack will stress both CPU & RAM.

then it's the mem OC issue.
I don't own this RAM perhaps you should go thru this review:

GSKILL SNIPER Memory, Ripjaw-X 33% OC 1600 to 2133MHz

vCore & mem or graphic card also possible.
since you're not OC your RAM or graphic card so I believe it has something to do with the CPU OC.
Try increase vCore if your cooling still allows.

Here's an easy to understand oc guide for asrock. I've used it a bit to tweak my gigabyte uefi. http://www.overclock.net/t/1198504/sandy-i...asrock-edition#

No problem for 4.6ghz, Prime95 and Linx. Haven't try IBT yet. However sometime my pc crash during gaming or difficult to turn on. Based on stress test tool, it's stable. I run the test for 3-4 times. However, I won't say it's stable since my 4.5ghz doesn't have any issue. Will try further at September and see how far it can go after holiday.

Nice attempt. Your low GFlops showed that you're not running win7 SP1 which is more stressful & more accurate way to test stability on IB. Your CPU actually needs more voltage & can only be determined on win7 SP1. In other words, no point to run LinX without win7 SP1. That's why it crashed during gaming. So get the SP1 & test again smile.gif

LOL. see under the column Gflops. I'm surprised. 4.6Ghz at 1.18V??? Are u sure? Try running prime95. It really stress the cpu to max. Also, may I ask what coling are you using?

I mean how to check GFlops for non SP1 or SP1? Or the value/ score specifically. Sure, and passed Prime95 and Linx but no screenshot of Prime. Prime run for 5 hour. Why not 24 hour? Because I'm using generator for electricity. About which stress the max, I leave that one on another side since it's still debatable. Some will pass Linx, fail Prime95. Some past Prime95, but fail Linx.

And for cooling, check my sig. thumbup.gif I say it's the best cooler. Good cooling with good clearance. The reason I didn't pick Noctua, because I'm afraid of space clearance. And seems like very difficult remove ram even if the fan removed.

As ZaiNor said, you can see the GFlops thru one of the LinX columns. Since it's SP1 then it must be you are using an old LinX. Check Post #1 for the latest LinX comes with the newest linpack as well as AVX instruction.

Didnt saw yout sig b4 coz browsing with phone. My bad

owikh84 If stressing using prime95 passed and failed using linpack or any other stressing tool (or the other way around), what does it indicates? Is it bad/unstable oc or is it the softwares prob?

I've checked back your Prime95 screenies looks like you're not stressing full RAM so it's not that stressful.
For prime always use custom blend full amount RAM min FFT 128k.

So, are you saying that Noctua is better than my current cooler? hmm.gif Or what you mean is, time for watercooling? brows.gif There is this review where CM Hyper 612S perform better than NH-D14.

Yeah, I also been wondering this. Another thing that unfinished debate is OCCT vs other apps.
