Sifu, i need laptop for a degree software engineering student, i want it to be lightweight and currently i have 2 ultrabook that i have in my mind:

1) Lenovo Ideapad U310 (RM1999 version)
2) HP Envy 4 (RM1999 version)

That's basically more or less my budget, not looking for higher than RM2000. Which is better? Or any other recommendation? I want it to be portable and light so that easier to carry and have good quality as well (not easily overheat). smile.gif Thanks! smile.gif

I haven't come across reviews for these units yet hmm.gif
But both are more or less similarly speced, so it all boils down to what screen size you prefer nod.gif
Personally I would prefer the 14" Envy 4 hmm.gif
Do take note that there are two versions of the Envy 4
[Ultrabook] Envy 4, i3-2367M + Intel HD3000@RM1999, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HP
[Ultrabook] Envy 4, i3-2367M + Intel HD3000 + (500GB + 32SSD)@RM2199, 4GB, W7HP

Try to go for the 2nd one if possible~

you can ask them, last month I ask few sellers there... they said that the stock will arrive soon, + they've showed me the demo units
when I checked, it is true Y480  i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650 ,

but they quote the price @ RM 2599 for student price that time, plus they give you original Win 7 HP

Thanks for the input bro notworthy.gif
Wow, if RM2599 with W7HP then it'll be a steal wub.gif wub.gif

Thank you dude :-)  but if i choose a43sd i5,is it still okay?

Assuming you're referring to the one with Nvidia GT610M, the GPU is a lot weaker, you might want to go for the A43Sm instead, the price is more or less the same, but with a better GPU

Depend on your usage imo.. if u looking for portability and a little bit of gaming, HP ENVY 4-1053TX is worth it. If it solely for gaming, better get Y480 with GT650M

Thx for your suggestion bro. Been looking into your list, and I think I'm gonna get this. But do you know how much should I spend for extended warranty?

Thx again smile.gif

Edited: Spectre specs have been updated smile.gif

Thanks for the reply sifu! I'm indecisive between U310/U410 or the Envy 4, i would much prefer the Lenovo because it's sexy looking as macbook pro, drool.gif but i'm wondering does it have a good solid build. Need to wait for your reviews on the lenovo. smile.gif

This one is not just capable of light gaming brows.gif
15.6"
Asus G55VW-S1095V, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080)@3999, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W7HP

Battery life is mediocre though tongue.gif

Otherwise can consider these:
15.6"
N56Vz-S3088V, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2699[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB, W7HP, subwoofer and backpack
N56ZM-S4079V, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920 x 1080) + BluRay@RM3599[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 1TB

The i5 variant should give you better battery life, without compromising too much on gaming performance (capable of medium-high game settings nod.gif); whereas the i7 variant comes with a FullHD screen~
