QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Apr 15 2012, 11:06 PM) Pretty much either Asus G74Sx or VX7Sx, Thank you so much for narrowing it down, bro. I'll search for the reviews later. But in terms of heat management, which would you recommend? I know rendering uses a lot of process and tends to heat up the CPU and GPU. Is Dynaaudio good? I've never heard of the name. But better pick MSI, since it got better hardware MSI GT70 [17.3", FHD Anti-glare 1920 x 1080, Intel Chief River i7-3610QM, NVIDIA GTX670M 3.0GB GDDR5, 8GB DDR3, 750GB 7200RPM HDD, Dynaudio Sound, SteelSeries Gaming Keyboard With Backlight, Gaming Mouse, Backpack, Win7 Premium, 2 Years Warranty] – RM6399 FREE SteelSeries Siberia V2 Headset |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Apr 15 2012, 11:17 PM) Can't comment much on GT70's heat management, since its very new.. Wow, thank you so much for quoting. The way he described it is as if it really sounded like a mini speaker system's quality. And that is splendid for a laptop's sound quality, if you asked me. Something on a laptop that would sound like X-Mini or the Razer Ferox would sound nice. Haha.As for dynaudio, Astria have better explanation Oh, but if you can wait, the Asus G75 should be near.. That's what I was worried about. If I got this and the G75 blew my head right off this planet. I'd regret the tuuuut out of it. Haha. |

QUOTE(fallout @ Apr 16 2012, 11:27 PM) Looking for laptop for my gf (& her mom) to be use for PPS & web surfing, maybe sometimes Photoshop. I have PC knowledge, so tech wise I'm still ok, just that I want to know more about the brand's build quality & warranty (good or not). I heard that Dell's laptop breaks a lot from lots of friends, so is it wise to no take any Dell's laptop? Under 2k for those purposes? I suggest the Asus A-series. You can get them basically for under RM2k and they're ASUS! Haha. 1. Preferred Brand: No preference 2. Budget: Under RM2k 3. Usage: Watch movies, surf web, no gaming 4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14" to 15" |

QUOTE(ahinigami @ Apr 17 2012, 11:23 AM) Thanks for the reply, the reasons I'm interested in my friends offer because I think i5 processer, Nvidia GT 610M/620M with 2 GB dedicated Ram was enough for me to play DoTA 2 at highest setting and it also comes with 8 Gb ram for only RM 2K which I think is quite a nice deals. The laptop your friend is using, other than the processor itself all the other specs seemed to almost the same but cost RM 600 extra and many friends told me to avoid AMD graphic card because it is not good, it that true? Haha. Partially true. Well, if you can afford NVidia, don't think elsewhere. Just go for it. That's what the pros always say. There was a discussion on another forum saying AMD is going down by the month. Well, if you don't mind second hand and if it's still in tip top condition, I'd say just go for what your friend offered you. |

QUOTE(ahinigami @ Apr 17 2012, 11:47 AM) His laptop was only 3 months old, will get it to test for 1 week. Thanks anyway~ Okay. Good luck! And you're welcome Will look into the Acer series, the price and specs looked quite good too but the shop arounds here don't have much Acer laptop... will go check it out in lowyat. Btw, while I'm on it... Any of these laptop can withstand high temperature as my old Acer laptop CPU temperature can reach up to 6x-7x celsius when playing game in afternoon. Almost 3 years of constant heating, nowadays it will shut off by itself when overheated T_T... As long as I can play DoTA 2 without a hitch most laptop will do for me. Added on April 17, 2012, 12:04 pm QUOTE(Ancient-XinG- @ Apr 17 2012, 11:52 AM) Why don't you think to but a Custom RIG ? True. So, the overheating problem should be solved since you mentioned you will not bring out your new laptop. This post has been edited by syabilng: Apr 17 2012, 12:04 PM |

QUOTE(ahinigami @ Apr 17 2012, 12:04 PM) IC, didn't know that different processor have different tolerance for heat. I see. Good to know and respect your good intentions there, bud. Stick to the laptop for now. For more knowledge on custom RIGs, track the thread on customizing. Not fixed yet but those who have beta key can try it out already and since it's build on Steam Engine the requirement is not as high as other games which is what Steam Engine is famous for. I got my beta key at PC Fair, will get the installer when I get my new laptop since I'm pretty sure my current laptop can't support it. Hmm, I haven't build any desktop before but I do have a plan for it... so for now I'm going to go with my budget and buy a laptop first. Will build a custom desktop when I have more knowledge on it and have more budget, I'm a college students and all the fund comes directly from my part time job as I don't want to burden my parents. |

QUOTE(ahinigami @ Apr 17 2012, 12:49 PM) I started to read about custom RIG recently but still very confused when it comes to model number as there are just too many but Nvidia GTX 580 should be the top graphic card from what I can comprehend and something about Kelpher is coming out soon... Slowly learning and making the list of components as I have abundant of time before I can get the budget to build my first custom RIG Yeap, take it slowly and learn what you can. |

QUOTE(cherylwong @ Apr 17 2012, 03:21 PM) Hi Pros! Maybe most of them don't like Jay Chou? Hahaha.want to know why you guys keep recommended this model "Asus N55Sf-S1515v" since EOL-ed already. I compare it with JayChou Edition, N45SL -VX021V, their spec are all equal, except the screen size. GT 555 (N55) vs GT 635 (N45) (or older version graphics is better?), 7,200 rpm, audio oso same. the price also roughly similar, unless you guys meant N55SF is much cheaper la. |

QUOTE(chiahau @ Apr 17 2012, 03:33 PM) Hardcore gaming --> Desktop Not ranting. It's a good point actually. If one needs a laptop for static use of hardcore and non stop gaming, I don't see the point of NOT getting a cheaper rig. Enough said. You can't whack eveything on a gaming laptop and hope it can survive. Laptop --> Portable gaming station. A cheap 4k gaming rig can outperform a 5k gaming laptop regardless of brand. So if you really want to go hardcore and expect Laptops to last the abuse, I really think there is no laptop suitable 4 you Sorry I am ranting |

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Apr 17 2012, 09:34 PM) helping my friend I think the only difference between those 2 is a slight different in graphics and huge difference in audio. The MSI has 7.1 ready audio hardware. Make your pick. asus n55 or msi ge620dx ??? since their price is same (price from pc fair) but dunno which 1 is better >< |
