You should consider n56... It's a replacement unit for n55. Price is higher though

Thanks will look into it too.

The biggest problem with the current N56vm is the rather weak specifications you are getting for the price. At Rm3.6k, even the GPU in the previous N55@RM2.8k is better than the GPU in the N56... Not to mention the previous N55 has a higher resolution screen as well sweat.gif

Not necessarily hold for the N56 with i5, but to wait for more laptops to come out that might appeal to you tongue.gif

Yea you can upgrade to 8GB RAM easily, one piece of 4GB RAM only costs around RM70 or so nod.gif
The Toshiba Qosmio line is not refreshed yet afaik hmm.gif
And Alienware M17x is out of your budget unfortunately, and the M14x is not worth the money sad.gif

The M17x R4 starts at around RM7k nod.gif
The M14x is not worth it because the specifications you get for the price is not worth it, even so if you're not exactly very particular about portability (in terms of size). The M14x cannot be upgraded later on (unlike the M17x)...
Imho, the M14x is only suitable for those who definitely need a smaller size laptop, but are still concerned about performance and are also willing to pay more @____@

You can try and find an M17x R3, you might be able to get one with your budget, but its going to be really bulky and heavy though haha, better think carefully 1st~

The Asus G55vw and MSI GE60 should be more or less balanced in terms of performance and portability among desktop replacements

Hi, need some help in choosing a laptop.

Preferred Brand: None
Budget: preferably <RM 2000, but will consider up to RM 2500
Usage: college work, medium gaming, watching movies
Preferred screen size: None

Hoping to get one with at least i5 and 4GB RAM. A large hard disk is not necessary. Battery life minimum 3 hours continuously (if possible?)

I will be carrying the laptop to school and back, about 20 mins walk.

Thank you for the opinions!
