There was a class action lawsuit against Fedex for fraud.

http://www.topclassactions.com/lawsuit-set...action-lawsuit#

QUOTE
A federal class action lawsuit claims FedEx cheats customers out of millions, if not billions, of dollars in overcharges by “upweighting” packages and engaging in other corrupt billing methods.

Fedex has decided to pay half of the customs tax and I pay the other half. After paying I wrote to them that I paid in protest, just for their and my record.

I am also hit recently with parcel coming in with Fedex. It's a musical instrument, which is not taxable. The lady who called to tell me about the charges initially agrees that musical instrument is tax free, while parts and accessories are not. She then asked if they can open up to take a picture and send it to customs, or send the parcel back to KLIA to the customs, I opted for the photo taking with me at present.

And then after driving to Kota Damansara(where the parcel was at), she then started lying saying that customs officer told her that music instrument is taxable, and the code she entered is correct( which is a lie, it's the code for parts and accessories).

Why is there this urge of collecting tax from deliveries?? Is that how those clearance officer ladder up???

Is there anyway I can make a dispute on the clearance cost??? I can only find the form for fedex US, not malaysia

Just wanna share my thought on this, I recently purchase something of Europe site. Which they send it in Fedex. Declaring full value, 75 Euro = Rm310-+ .
Even is below Rm500 i still got charge tax, and they label it as other instead if the actual product. Here is a pic to how. Oh, BTW. I don't even know how GST is implemented on this user posted image .

I bought the battery for $99 + $29.85 Fedex shipping to Malaysia... RM 478 after conversion, this is what I paid for the goods + shipping.

I e-mailed them to enquire, they replied to me with the attached:

Attached Image

So Cost = $99 x 3.7144 (USD to RM) = 367.73
Insurance at 1% = 3.68

As for Freight, I really have no idea how they calculate. Because from merchant's end it's only $29.85 = RM 110.88
Dunno how they jacked up freight charges from 110 bucks to 421 bucks.

So total cost + freight = RM 793.

6% GST from 793 is RM 47.58... rclxub.gif

d shipping cost according seller is FOC. but it seems fedex comes out wit their own minimal freight charges. n d custom tax according to freight charges declared by fedex. its nonsense. i import before this mostly usin usps. never had this type of problem at all.

Kena GST 6% (RM20+) because Fedex declare my Freight charge as RM255.
However, in my invoice, shipping is RM115.

@all, will it be the same BS even if i use EMS?

I won't use FedEx ever again. Unfortunately, I found this thread too late – after I'd paid for the shipping – and waited to see what would happen. I'd never used FedEx and only chose to ship with them because of a promotion on the site I was using. Lesson well learned and I've told everyone I know never to use FedEx. Our inside joke now is me asking, "What lesson did we learn?" And they reply, "Never use FedEx."

I bought 3 used DVDs from an auction so there are no duties involved. FedEx enhanced my tab with their magical RM 255 freight charge so I had to pay the GST and the "Free Commercial Zone" RM 5 fee. My expected 2 day delivery became a week. I ordered a book after the DVDs and it arrived 3 days earlier through regular mail.

This is a scam. I've been shipping and having things shipped for years with way larger packages than 3 boring DVDs. This would get more attention as a new thread but I'm so uninterested in FedEx at this point, I couldn't care less.

So what lesson did we learn?
